www.hardcoregaming101.net/inventories/mortalklones.htmBeyond giving us ten games and several spin-offs, Mortal Kombat also inspired a legion of clones, rip-offs, and homages. This article covers over thirty of these titles - any 2D fighter featuring digitized live action or CGI characters, or otherwise featuring extreme amounts of violence - including Time Killers, Way of the Warriors, and more!

I feel the games which have entries on the site could do with links to the articles underneath the summary.
Glad to see Cat Fight on the list. It's quite the game.
Some missing things that could be added: The Untouchable for PC And if you're interested in a unreleased game, Thea Realm Fighters. It's even got it's own Wikipedia entry.

No Eternal Champions? Say whaaaaat? I asked, actually, but the official word is that those games were actually "too good" to put on the list. Besides that, they have their own, full-featured articles.

I remember seeing footage of Bikini Karate Babes on Cinematech: Nocturnal Emissions on G4 a little over a decade ago.

No Eternal Champions? Say whaaaaat? Eternal Champions always felt like it was Sega of America trying to do Street Fighter II rather than Mortal Kombat. They started going the ultra-violent route with the Sega CD game, but even then, there's enough that separates it from being a Mortal Kombat clone. Otherwise the definition would have to be spread into "all Western-developed fighting games", which wasn't what we were going for.

Also, one of the main definitions of "clone" is using either digitized live action or CGI visuals.

Dong Dong Never Die maybe?

I looked this up yesterday, because I've never heard of it before then. Looks like it's by the guys who did Bikini Karate Babes, only less focused on sex appeal. I guess after nobody ever heard of their game, they had to do something to get attention.

Dong Dong Never Die maybe? Eh, safe to say that's a Street Fighter / KOF homage using digital sprites, rather than a MK tribute.

I actually quite like Battle Monsters. It's utterly mediocre at best, but hell if it ain't a ton of fun when you're having a drunk evening with mates. Its 3D predecessor Killing Zone on the other hand is clunky tosh, so you'll probably need a lot of alcohol to enjoy that.

Now that you mention in it, the graphics in Time Slaughter look like the old NESticle mascot...

Again, Time Killers is hard to call "clone" since it came out just two weeks later, although I doubt it'd have won over Mortal Kombat even if it came out earlier.
I had the misfortune of trying Shadow at a small retrogame event years ago, it's even worse than it seems. I also found Ultra Vortek worse than Kasumi Ninja, both didn't play well but UV has few characters and really lame visuals.
TimeSlaughter still impresses me for the coding - an amateur production from that time with multiparallax and perspective-scrolling floors, and also lots of cutscenes.
I can't believe you missed this gem.
