Please check the author's head for open wounds. This game is garbage. That's no reason to insult somebody.

Sure it is, especially since I was only joking.

So people should like stuff they don't like instead? Robin Hood is pretty infamous for being a bad licensed game. You can talk about the negatives of a game in a non mean-spirited way. Take a look at this old and new description for Hokuto no Ken on TCRF: Mean-spirited description:"This critically panned Famicom game based on the popular manga sold over 450,000 copies in Japan, proving that Famicom-owning kids back in the 1980s were just as gullible as their NES-playing counterparts when it came to buying licensed trash." Objective description:"Hokuto no Ken for the Famicom is the first of several games based on Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's post-apocalyptic manga. It's a ''Spartan X''-style beat-'em-up, very similar to the unrelated Black Belt (SMS) released around the time, but nowhere near as well-regarded (in fact, it's generally considered an infamous ''kusoge''). However, it came out at the peek of the manga's popularity in Japan, as well during the beginning of the Famicom boom, allowing this sub-par game to sell over a million copies." TBH, I find the old description to be written in a much more ENTERTAINING, even if not informative, manner. Also huge props for "check head for open wounds", that's something exactly along those lines.

I thought entertaining descriptions were fine on TCRF since the point was to discuss the unused/changed content within the ROMs. Leaving objective explanations of a game for Wikipedia.

I just used it as an example.

In all fairness, I believe that the tone for most articles on this site should be more professional and evenhanded, as that's the style that Kurt took with the initial write-ups. More colorful discourse should be reserved for personal discussions between people, like on the forum, but that's just my opinion.
Also to be clear, when I say things like "this person must have a hole in their head to like Prince of Thieves", it's not meant to be an actual attack on someone who likes that particular thing. It's meant to be so over the top that people can recognize that it's meant as a joke, but that's probably easier to pick up in person than online. I honestly meant no offense to the author of the article, I was just trying to say in a humorous, exaggerated way that I disagree with his position on the subject.

Thanks for the clarification.
And I agree, that sort of humor can be tricky, especially in written form and if you don't know the other person.

The game was also planned for Master System but never released. I recall there was a commercial/trailer with a few seconds of footage but otherwise nothing.

Don't worry, I'm picking up what you're putting down. I think the article was down the middle and talked more about the features of the game than whether it was a great game or not. I had memories of hating this too, but probably because(like most back then) it wasn't the game I was hoping for. So it instantly goes in to the trash heap as a kid. Over time you learn to appreciate what was once horrible once you give it an unbiased chance. And also see through nostalgia to find that some games just aren't as good as they seemed. I've grown to like games that other media shit on like Adventures of Link and Friday the 13th. And realize that Ikari Warriors and Simon's Quest are not the games I thought they were 30 years ago.

You may want to point out, the built in passwords are unhelpful after you look for the missing man. None of the later passwords give you the Druid Knife, which you strictly need if you to plan to beat the game.

I remember this game being treated pretty well by reviewers. I know I really wanted a copy, but never got one.
