The 16 bit wars ARE still going on, but it's a more clandestine battle these days, and a little humurous to hear people tote phrases like "Blast Processing" and "Sega does what Nintendon't" nowadays. There's no hiding the fact that I love SNES, but the Genesis holds a special place in my personal hall of fame. And I sometimes refer to the Genesis as Genny, but I feel a little dirty afterwards, so I say it in moderation

At least you guys got the Genesis and not a curious sounding *Mega Drive*..sounds like a power tool.
Also, Sega seemed to care more about Europe then SNES if I remember correctly, Nintendo were happy with the USA and Japan so they kind of got lazy with their stranglehold in Europe so Sega snapped it up.

I had both systems, but I liked the SNES the most. The sound on the Genesis just sounded terrible to me.

I was a Sega fan. Right along with my entire Cub-Scout 'Den' and about about 80% of my entire 'Pack'.
I would eventually get an SNES in 2002 and enjoy it, but never as much as I enjoyed my Genesis. But damn, were those ever the years.
I sorta wonder what things have been like if that turd of A game DKC never came out when it did. The way I remember, it seemed as if the SNES was struggling in my area until THAT came out. (to get my view out to of the way, I found DKC to be stylistically beautiful, but the gameplay seemed shallow even compared to some 8bit games).

If the 16-bit console wars are going on still, surely the Genesis is winning purely based on the fact that it had a game released last year, much less the last ten years.

Don't the Genesis and Neo Geo have the same processor?

I was a Snes fan only because of economical circumstances. Everytime the Genesis received an exclusive, I wished I was richer.

Don't the Genesis and Neo Geo have the same processor? Yeah, which was previously used in Macs. The Neo Geo 68000 was a lot faster than the Genesis one, obviously.

Yeah, but the variation for the Genesis was only 16.
It's weird reading about how 32-bit processors have been around since the 70s but wasn't until the mid 90s that they showed up in console systems.

and yet 128 bit processors only have to date shown up in Consoles. Only now are PCs getting 64 bit processors.
and the modern consoles the bittage isn't even mentioned. (the XBOX ran off the P3 which is a 32 bit processor go figure)
