Baka Gaijin strikes again.........saying he hates the SNES. Like a Nam vet having flash backs he still says the Genesis was better.
I don't really favor one over the other but I must say most of the Good Genesis games were from sega themselves. Of course I'll say that Sonic Probably couldn't have been done on the SNES.
But back in the day.......did you pick a side?
I was full on SNES back in the day.

Personally I play SNES games more since there's more that I like on the SNES. Both were good consoles of their own merit, but I kinda hate how Sega made the casual gamer with their Genesis.

Australian gamer, so like Europe I was a Sega boy through and through, not that I didn't like the SNES it's just well..at the time between a fat plumber and an insanely fast Hedgehog there really wasn't a choice there.

The only issue the SNES had was Censorship which was later retracted but at the time it was annoying Had it been released uncensored the SNES Mortal Kombat would have been Arcade perfect

I think the Mega Drive's popularity in Europe was more about how games were genuinely faster than on the SNES, since companies didn't take care to make games faster with the turn from 60 Hz to 50 Hz.

The Master System did pretty well in Europe too if I'm not mistaken (and Brazil of all places)
I remember there used to be a Sega world in London, when I was there 10 years ago it was one of the most amazing places I had ever been in.

I have to say, with the kind of games I liked I was a Nintendo boy through and through. Now, I have no loyalties as I have the money to own whatever I feel...

Back in the day I was definitely a Sega fan. My brother and I got a Genesis back in 1991 with a handful of games, resulting in what would be countless hours playing Sonic, the Phantasy Star, the Shining games, and a few other titles we had like Golden Axe II, Last Battle, and even Shadow of the Beast. In fifth grade I'd sport a set of nice Sonic T-shirts/sweaters that they used to sell at Media Play.
Now I still have both my SNES and Genesis hooked up. I've played most of the Genesis games near to death, though I've been giving the Sonics another go. There's a lot more SNES RPGs and games that I've had to fill my time and intresest and I'm finding myself giving the system a lot more credit than I did back in the day (though in 1995, I still really wanted to play Chrono Trigger and that is one pleasure I still hold very highly). Genesis will remain a personal favorite as I think I like its action games better, but given enough time, I might given the SNES a higher standing.

I swore allegiance to Turbo Duo back in the day but I still played SNES and Genesis.

Back then, I knew SNES was coming and that it would likely do better than the Genesis, but I still got the Genesis because of my love of arcade style games.
I did get an SNES maybe a year or so after it came out, though if I had to classify myself, I would be a Sega fan. Games on the SNES seemed...a little too clean and polished, while Genesis games had a look that was more rough, which I preferred.

Got a Genny when it first came out, same with SNES. I loved both systems, but the passion for SNES was that much stronger. I remember playing and enjoying both systems a lot, up til 94. In 94, the SNES took off and the Genesis never caught up

good responses so far.
Just like the real 16 bit wars there's no clear winner.

I have a freind who likes to think Genesis and SNES are still competing we even argue about it too. I have both Genny and Super Nintendo plugged in but I prefer Genny.

I personally think that the SNES is the greatest system ever made. So yeah, I bet you guess which side of fence I was on. Nintendo Rulez! Sega Droolz! EDIT: Drawesome(Dale): For some reason, Genny sounds like a prostitute.

Wow I really value the opinion of someone who uses a childish taunt I havent heard sense 4th grade to show the supeority of his council.
