This topic is going to get WAY too big VERY quickly. Remember the last time we did this? Remember how huge that got in only a couple months?
There are 67 Bomberman games (IIRC)! No way in hell could anybody write about that series.
The Culture Brain thing wouldn't work. Hiryuu no Ken and Super Chinese would be interesting, but there are dozens and dozens overall, and most of them are not interesting. Also, keep in mind that I have already written about their Ossu!! Karate Bu game (several months ago, but it hasn't gone up yet).
If somebody writes about light gun games, then it might be a good idea to begin with Nintendo's offerings. After all, they invented the genre, and may have been the most prolific developer of it.
I have offered to write about Great Battle in the past if somebody else would take care of the lone PS game. The rest are emulatable, so that would really be no problem. However, I'm a bit busy at the moment, so it may or may not be a while before I can get around to it.
I might be willing to write about F-Zero if somebody else takes care of the N64 and GC games, and is also willing to update it when other games are inevitably released. Again, it might be a while before I have time to get to it, though.
My own suggestions:
Densha de GO! ~
Best series ever.
EVER!Jet de GO! ~ Like above, except not. Also, AWESOME!
RC de GO! ~ A racing game that's not like above, and much less awesome.
Power Shovel ~ Taito owns all.
Tokyo Bus Guide ~ Glorious awesomeness of John Candy proportions.
EXCITEBIKE ~ I will begin writing this
immediately if somebody else writes about Excitebike 64.
CLOCK TOWER ~ The original is the best survival horror game by a mile. Masterpiece caliber game, and among the best damn games EVER. I'll write a intro and a crapload about the first game if anybody else can write the rest.
FIREMEN ~ I'm all over the SFC game if somebody else takes care of the Saturn game.
Boong-Ga Boong-Ga ~ I'm serious. Is this MAMEd? If it is then I'll write about it. Greatest idea for a video game EVER.
Toilet Kids ~ Not a joke. I might write this myself. This game is what happens when you give a bunch of drunk morons finance to make a video game. We need more games like this.
Capcom & SNK Cross-Over Fighters ~ I'll call both SNK vs. Capcom games if somebody else takes both Capcom vs. SNK games.
bit Generations ~ I'll write all of these except whatever-Voyager.
NAM-1975 ~ Awesome in video game form. Plays like Cabal, but better.
Cabal ~ Originator of a genre, and damn fine game.
Fatal Frame ~ Pure awesome, but I have no interest in writing it.
Silent Hill ~ Same as above.
Space Invaders ~ Yes, it's the most recognizable shooter ever, but how many people are even aware that it has several sequels? Anybody who has played
Akkanvader could tell you that the entire thing would be worth writing for that game alone.
Galaga ~ Maybe too popular, but gloriously awesome. The only real problem is that there would be no way to talk about
that room-sized version of the game.
Qix ~ Awesome, and very original, Taito puzzle series from way back when. I would probably have already written this if not for three super
obscure PS releases.
Fire Pro ~ I'll write about the emulatable games if somebody else can take the rest. This is easily among the greatest series of video games ever, even if you don't like wrestling games.
Nintendo Wars (Advance Wars) ~ Again, I'll write about the emulatable games if somebody else can take the rest. These are easily the best strategy games ever made, and, like Fire Pro, can easily appeal to people who don't generally like the genre.
Tecmo Bowl ~ Tecmo Super Bowl is among the greatest games ever made, and the whole thing would be well worth writing for that game alone. I'll write this if somebody else takes care of the PS game and the upcoming PS3/Wii game.
Capcom's Marvel Themed Fighters ~ I don't really like these, but they are definitely HG101 material.
Little Wing Gameography ~ Greatest pinball game developer EVER. They made the seminal Tristan Pinball for Mac back in 1990, and are still at it today making AWESOME pinball games for PC and Mac. (
DEMO VERSIONS OF THEIR TABLES!)
Denjin Makai ~ The first game isn't MAMEd yet, but if it ever is then this NEEDS to be at HG101. This is probably the best beat-em-up series that isn't made by Technos, Capcom, Konami, Sega, or Treasure.
Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden: Blizzard Yuki Rannyuu ~ Crazy ass wrestling game that I can't figure out how to play.
PUZZLE BOBBLE ~ I might be down with taking the emulatable games is somebody else takes care of the rest, and updates it when other games are released.
Bubble Bobble ~ Great Taito arcade-style games. I probably don't need to tell anybody what this is.
Stand Alone Taito Puzzle Games ~ Just play
Land Maker,
Puchi Carat, and
Pop 'n Pop, and tell me these don't need to be at HG101.
Stand Alone Konami Beat-em-ups ~
Simpsons,
Metamorphic Force,
X-Men, Batman Something-or-other (SNES & NES),
Asterix,
Bucky O'Hare, and
Gaiapolis. Not really that into these myself, but it would be cool to see these here.
Konami
TMNT Games ~ Again, not really my kind of thing, but
prime HG101 material.
Konami's Other Shooters ~ Everything that isn't already here. Me and Discoalucard have talked about collaborating on this, but there's a arcade game that isn't MAMEd, so it may or may not ever happen. He has said that he would like to see this happen, and Konami are my favorite shmup developer, so it's still a very real possibility.
Any Konami run 'n' gun that isn't Contra ~ Whether together or separately, it would be interesting to see at least a few of these. It would be nice to at least see
Labyrinth Runner and
Crazy Cop - the latter of which I might be down with writing eventually.
Matsumura Kuni Hiroden - Saikyou no Rekishi wo Kumikaero! ~ The most insane fighter ever made. You have to see
this shit for yourself. Too bad it sucks like no other.
PuLiRuLa ~ Just about the craziest looking game ever made. I might write about this eventually. I have heard it isn't 100% accurately MAMEd. Can anybody confirm that?
B.B. Gun ~ Awesome strategy game with SD graphics.
Rayforce ~ That awesome Taito shooter with the lock-on ray. Has a couple sequels, as well.
Taito Shooters ~ Everything that isn't Space Invaders or Rayforce. They made quite a few of these, and most of them are pretty ok.
Kirby ~ Why the hell is this not
already here? If anybody would need assistance for this, I would be interested in writing about the pinball game and Adventure, but that's all I would be willing to contribute. Not that the others aren't great, I'm just not interested in writing about them.
Ninja Gaiden ~ Kind of iffy, with the recent revival of the series, but the earlier games are very HG101-ish.
Mother ~ I could write about the second game,
maybe the first game, and
possibly the third game. However, I'm not really even considering it at the moment.
Mini Putt ~ Best miniature golf game EVER. Addictive like you would not believe. Hell, I might write this eventually.
TEMPEST ~ Holy shit, why the hell is this game not already here? I might be willing to start writing this immediately if somebody else takes care of the remakes.
Missile Command ~ Good game by the guy who made Tempest.
Libble Rabble ~ Bizarre like crazy game by the guy who made Pac-Man. Controlled with two joystick, and doesn't quite play like anything else.
Electric Yo-Yo ~ Very, very simple, but absolutely fantastic OLD arcade-style game.
Tank ~ This is the series that Combat for Atari 2600 is a part of. They aren't actually MAMEd, so this might be impossible.
Legend of Stafi ~ Nintendo platformers for GBA and DS. Obscure as hell in America, but popular enough in Japan to get several sequels fairly quickly.
Puzzle-Dama ~ I have only played the SNES game, but its easily among the best puzzle games I have ever played.
Gourmet Sentai Bara Yarou ~ The Cho Aniki of beat-em-ups.
Insane in ways that
defy belief.
Shonen Ninja Sasuke ~ Good, but not great beat-em-up for SFC that could have been a masterpiece at the levels of River City Ransom. It's ok, but it's also way too repetitive. It's still worth discussing at HG101, though.
Chuck Norris Games ~ I believe there are two of these.
Mr. T Games ~ Self explanatory.
Jackie Chan Games ~ Awesome actor, not so awesome games.
Kung Fu ~ Freaking classic that NEEDS HG101 representation from somebody who genuinely digs the series. I'm not interested in seeing a campy piss take.
Godzilla games ~ The most badass monster in the history of monsters, with a couple of ok games, and a bunch of shitty games.
Nosferatu ~ Prince of Persia clone that any PoP fan will probably like.
Super Sidekicks, or SNK Soccer Games ~ I don't even like this genre, but these are pretty ok.
SNK Baseball Games ~ I was going to write this, but I have been really busy with other crap.
Defender ~ Yes, the original game is way to recognizable, but there are a couple sequels that are much more obscure.
Tomato Adventure ~ RPG with a mini-game based battle system. Pretty awesome idea, and a decent game.
Domo-Kun no Fushigi Terebi ~ It's got that damn brick with a face.
Karate Kid Games ~ If these have any crane kicks, or Cobra Kai, then we need to get to writing this
immediately.
Battletoads ~ For the obscure sequels, and to show people the insanity that they never got to see after that goddamn bike race.
Raiden ~ Quality shooter series.
Big Bang Pro Wrestling ~ Great SNK developed Fire Pro clone.
Real Sound: Kaze no Regret ~ Audio game.
Q*Bert ~ These are pretty ok.
Motos ~ Awesome old Namco arcade game where you control a bumper car, and have to knock other object off a platform. VERY good game.
Gauntlet ~ Not really that good, but it's kind of surprising that it's not already here.
Faselei! & Dive Alert ~ They take place in the same fictional world, so why not? Faselei is among the best strategy RPGs ever, but Dive Alert is more of a curiousity than anything else.
Melon-chan's Growth Diary ~ No idea what this is. That's why I'd like to see it here, so somebody can make sense of it all. Also, it's by SNK.
Mizuki Shigeru no Youkai Shashinkan ~ SNK RPG that combines Pokemon with Pokemon Snap.
Kenta Cho Gameography ~ Best freewrae developer, and currently the best shooter developer.
Ogre Battle ~ Intersting RPG series. Especially noteworthy for Tactics Ogre.
Party Mail ~ It was made by SNK and it has the word party in the name. Pure awesome is what that is. I can't make any sense of it, though.
Delta Warp ~ Weird, good puzzle game.
Cool Cool ~ Series of two music games from SNK.
Hanjuku Eiyuu ~ Crazy ass RPG parody series by Square.
Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom ~ Crazy ass adventure game.
