I emailed BJ Love once, he answered, it was awesome.
From a storyline standpoint, Vice and Yamazaki act crazy all the time because they're instead of going into a riot of the blood like Leona, Yashiro, etc. due to their heritage, they're just in a semi-crazed state at all times from it.

KoF online was made by UNat Tech (something like that) and was only released in South Korea. It was shut down because it was awful. Basically, you chose from one of sixteen characters (Athena Asamiya, Kim Jae Hoon, Kim Kap Hwan, Iori Yagami, Kula Diamond, Kyo Kusanagi, Leona, Tendo Gai, Terry Bogard, Vanessa, I forget the rest), customized their appearance to your liking, and then walked around "Southtown" brawling with other players.
The same developer was actually working on a Metal Slug Online before this got completely shut down due to being awful in every way.

Man, that Gamest Team pic of Blue Mary makes it look like she's got a couple of raccoons fighting under that top of hers. In terms of favorite KoFs, I love 98, 99, 2000, and 2002. I haven't gotten to play 2003 yet or XI, so I can't really say anything about those.

Hohoho looks like the Neo Geo.com guys hate the KoF article: www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1987151This...amuses me, actually. Apart from the embarassing spelling/minor factual error...some of these comments pretty much reeks of the fanboyness I try to avoid, and purposely kept out of the article. It's not a definitive article, naturally, but it wasn't meant to be. I don't see how it's biased though. Biased against what? Biased against KoF for being awesome? In that case guilty as charged and whatever.

In that case guilty as charged and whatever. ............................ wow. I mean, just... wow. "Somewhat biased?" I don't quite understand that either. Personally, I thought it examined every game fairly. And they have noted a couple of typos, but... well, in all fairness, there are typos all over the site. Kurt, you have a day job, and you don't always have time to put up eight-page articles and apply a bigass spell checker to the whole shebang. And it was never, ever, EVER meant to be an authoritive source of KoF, or else it would have had a big disclaimer on the first page on the article saying that "this article contains every iota of detail ever having to do with the King of Fighters." Sheesh. At least a few of the guys liked it (and that one fella does have a point, Billy did first appear in 3D in FF:WA, and his 2003 outfit was based off of his WA colors), but not taking an article seriously due to a simple spelling error? Ugh... and then... well, "people are just stupid." Keh. Oh, the bleeding irony. I thought he made it quite clear that he NEVER PLAYED A GODDAMN KOF GAME BEFORE IN HIS LIFE BEFORE THAT. For shit's sake, I didn't even know who the fuck Yashiro Nanakase or Shingo Yabuki were before becoming a KoF fanatic, but not knowing that five years ago didn't necessarily make me a retard. At least I'm not attacking website authors over what I consider to be rather trifling details. ... reading the English posts from this particular guy (he's Spanish, though), he seems to have a history of mocking others and dismissing many as "stupid." So... dammit, I don't even know why I get so riled. Guess I've just got a bit of a pissed-off streak that comes to surface more than it should. No, that's enough. I'm just walking away... and taking Neogeo.com off of my bookmarks. Shit, I thought that an entire website devoted to the Neo-Geo would be respectful of any sort of praise or tribute to the series, but I guess I was fucking wrong. I don't need to get this pissed off early in the morning... I am so sorry, but I just had to vent. Kurt, I commend your ability to laugh off any unconstructive criticism. I'm never the bigger man about such matters. Oh well... at least they don't seem to dislike the character listing.

Oh, I'm well aware the Neo Geo forums are a cesspool, so this is no surprise. I think "elitist" tends to be the word, though on my brief time there otherwise, there are at least a few decent people there. I'm curious what a "fanboy" version of the article would look like like though. I'm not entirely sure what that means , I'm guessing it would have more ranting, ignore the seresi' faults and spend pages dribbling over the most minor of changes of each games. That...would be practically unreadable to anyone outside the most hardcore of fans. I'm also wondering what a "non-biased" article would look like - I guess something like Wikipedia, which isn't the site's goal at all. I'm a little annoyed by at, as you can see by my response, but ultimately it doesn't matter. If people are going to get angry at something because I don't like one of the games they do, well, whatever.

If people are going to get angry at something because I don't like one of the games they do, well, whatever. ... heh. This is why I can't maintain my own website. Criticism (that isn't constructive) tends to really blow the veins in my temples. If I had a website, I'd probably post a message saying, "If you don't like it, then you don't have to deal with it! Scallywags!" Then I'd close the site down temporarily. However, your attitude is levelheaded and rational... and with a website like this, you have to be like that. The articles are all strictly your opinions... well, 'cept for the ones written by other readers. All you can expect with a site like this is many a strong (and sometimes idiotic) disagreement, especially with the Cranky Gamers section. And the NG website has some damn good reviews... just remind me to steer clear of the forums next time my head has a nuclear meltdown. ... allow me to digress for a bit, but there needs to be a new subject in CG. That section has been collecting dust for a while.

That's why I like these forums- no annoying dipwads like those I just read about. I still maintain that this is a good article ;P

Yeah I used to post on the NG forums for a couple of years, then left and came back a bit, nothing changed though so there's no real point in posting there. Kurt you basically wasted your time by posting there at all.

The only meaningful exchange I've had over there was regarding the MVS converter I got. I think I'm gonna put a review up sometime soon, since there's barely any information on it anywhere.
I recognize one of the guys there, he was permabanned from the Dungeon forums years ago...

Does anybody know about the bug on KOF 94 that can kill you in one hit?

About KOF Online:
Sounds like a cool idea, but seeing screen shots of everyone in the same place, with the same characters appearing, makes it look hella lame, though the basic idea still sounds cool. I think it would have been better to play as a custom character, and leave the KoF characters as NPC/computer enemies.

I have to admit, I never got into the KoF series, mostly because I haven't played fighters much. Also, I don't know where to find a n00b friendly KoF near me.
This article at least brought some light on the series that I'd never find on a fanboy's review, and has given me some outlook on it where there was none.

Maximum Impact is completely removed from the main KoF continuity, so what happens in the MI series won't affect the main series and vice sersa.
But man...I REALLY hope that spoiler you posted is a joke. It would be so lame if it was true >.<
