Oh, you're definitely right. Bad guys in Final Fight are much more numerous and aggressive.

I have been reading the Final Fight article again, and the paragaph about Streetwise confuses me a bit.
It opens by saying it's a tragedy of a game (very well possible, never played it, doesn't look appealing), but ends by claiming that it's not nearly as bad as some would have you think. So, how bad is it really? Maybe the choice of the word 'tragedy' relates to the development of the game, but it's not obvious.
Also, the original Final Fight was ported to a fuckton of computer formats, such as;
C64
Spectrum
Amstrad CPC
X68K
Amiga
As you can see, these are fairly tragic, except for the X86K version of course, which is logical since the Sharp X68K is the Capcom CPS1 developer workstation.

Well, it's tragic inasmuch as it totally Westernifies the Final Fight series in ways that seem offensive, but the game itself isn't quite as bad its reputation suggests.
And yeah, I know about the ports (though I haven't played any of them), but this being the second article I ever did, this was before I started covering computer conversions.

Oh my sweet Christ. Final Fight on the Commodore 64? This is an affront to nature.

Compared to the Spectrum version, it's sex with three Swedish supermodels and a kilo of high-quality cocaine.

Final Fight is a deeper game than most of you are giving it credit for. The game (along with other decent beat-'em-ups) can be completed on one credit with some skills and good memorization. Most people complain about how "linear" and "oversimplified" it is, but I bet half of them had only finished the game by credit feeding. Even the infinities in Final Fight require a bit of skill to pull off. The other day I discovered a trick that turns all of the bonus items into Gold Bars and Diamonds, which is pretty helpful. Even if you're not playing for score, the trick can help you reach the next bonus life quicker than you usually would (assuming that the "life extends" setting is set to more than one bonus life). Oh yeah, Capcom's X68k version of Final Fight doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as U.S. Gold's crappy ports. U.S. Gold made several crappy ports of other Capcom games back in the late 80s and 90s for the five big computer platforms in Europe at the time (ZX Spectrum, C64, Amstrad, Amiga, and Atari ST), but they often hired really incompetent developers to do the job.

A lot of those entries are really stretching it. Sodom's jeans and boots? I'm pretty sure those weren't actually denim pants, but even if they were, he wasn't wearing boots at all. Those were just shinguards.

I agree. Some of the similarities seem more like coincidental than actual inspirations. Half of the page is borderline "original research" (read: made-up BS by the author). Still, they do cite references to Capcom Design Works: Early Days, but they're secondhand citations obviously not made by the webmaster. I almost had the chance to buy that book in its original incarnation (Capcom Illustrations) back when I was still in middle school, but I naively passed the chance. I'm more interested in finding full quotes from that art book than some random webmaster's own opinions.

I just read the Final Fight article and under the section where you talk about cameos, you forgot to point out the SNK vs. Capcom card games. They feature characters from Final Fight in them.

Just noticed that in the trivia section it does not mention Haggar is a playable character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In fact, his DLC costume is his outfit from Final Fight 3:

I like to make little review on Final Fight 3: - It takes 2 serial periods, Guy and Haggar can do running and dash attack
- Exclude Lucia, all super moves executed by grappling first. Quite disappointing
- Very agree that Final Fight 3 is the best among the series

You can actually disable friendly damage in the options screen, just set "HIT CONFIG." to "OFF"
