The Riviera music links are broken ;_;
And they made Youkai Buster? Really? That's one of my favorite "man I wish this game was a lot better than it really is" games on the SNES. It reminds me a lot of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure and other early shareware platformers.

D'oh. Fixed on that end.
A lot of those games I wouldn't have known they made if it weren't for the Japanese Wikipedia. They keep a pretty good back catalog on their website and there's no mention of a lot of them. Maybe it was part of their contractual dealings like TOSE.

Ah, yeah, the Japanese language Wikipedia. Another one of the many wealths of gaming knowledge I missed out on by not studying any Japanese while my brain was still receptive.
Also - is the music in the PSP game taken straight from the Full Arrange Soundtrack that came out in 2005? I mean, it makes sense, but I just like to know these things for sure.

Good question actually. I haven't played the PSP version so I was going off what all of the reports I had read about it. However, listen to the end of this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCX_VvGxqDk&mode=related&search=It sounds pretty close to the Full Arrange version, but still slightly different. I could just be that it's for a promo video though. I don't know why they'd arrange music twice, unless it's sequenced in the PSP game rather than streamed.

Sting also made Psycho Chaser on the TG16 for Naxat.

I don't think so. It's not listed on the Wikipedia entry - other than that one computer-based shooter, all of their earlier games appeared on the Super Famicom, nothing for the PCE. Also: www.vgden.com/hucard/reviews/psy.htmThis page seems to think it was made mostly by Data East guys.

The box for Override, the game with the same staff as Psycho Chaser, credits both Sting and Data East, telling from the page for Override at the same site. According to that page, Sting also published a related PC game to Override. Edit: I checked for the names of the programmers at MobyGames. Shinichi Abe, one of the programmers listed for Psycho Chaser, was involved with Evolution 2.

I managed to track down Baroque for the PSX and love it so far. Thanks for writing this article. I can definitely see the problems with Baroque mentioned in the article. Combat seems entirely random, and though you can strafe and stuff it doesn't seem to matter. It's kind of annoying to have to track two (when it comes down to it) health stats, one of which decreases with time, while the other increases as you rest. It's weird and a little hard to gauge at any give time if you are safe or not, but I guess that's the point? The atmosphere is great and the soundtrack pretty incredible. I think the graphics are really impressive for a PSX game, and the PSX graphics help contribute to that... screens I've seen of the PS2 remake (?) look too colorful and smooth.

Oi, Yggdra Union. I wanted to like this game, I REALLY did, but just like Super Robot Wars OG 2, it's just too unforgiving... It seems like no matter what I do, I get screwed early on, and don't know the "right way to play" it so that you're not all screwed over as you get on through.
That, and I don't know how to keep myself from taking massive amounts of damage (same problem I have in the SRW games...)
Baroque, on the other hand.... even though I've never played the game, I love the soundtrack to an almost unholy degree...

Just updated with some of the stuff on the US release of Baroque, thanks to Neo Rasa. I also stuck up a few MP3s from the remake. I'm predisposed to hate it because the 32-bit version is so awesome, but on its own terms, it's alright.

I knew I read about Baroque somewhere around here.
I spotted the PS2 version up for sale recently and was debating whether it was worth a purchase. What do you think?

For some reason I felt compelled to Google around a little for Treasure Hunter G again just now. (I never did learn if there was some way to devise the password for the casino other than brute-force guessing.) Apparently Red and Blue from SaGa Frontier are supposed to be the same characters as Red and Blue in THG? www.hardcoregaming101.net/saga/saga3.htm

They're different characters, although they look somewhat similar (both Blues have blond hair, both Reds have spiky blue hair). The Reds more closely resemble each other. In SaGa Frontier, Blue also has a brother named Rouge, meaning red in French. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RedOniBlueOni
