Each article has its own unique combination of the presence and lack of flaws, but usually I find myself pointing out when an article comes off as too dry, meandering, or redundant. Redundancy makes my mind explode far more than simple typos, as I start mentally slicing and dicing a paragraph, removing all the phrases that essentially repeat what's already been said. I had to come a long way to get to that point, though. When I read my old reviews from around 5 years ago, I want to go into a conniption over my own redundancy. But of course I'm too lazy to actually improve them. :P So I fully understand if writers here accept and realize their mistakes without taking the effort to remedy them. As long as future pieces show improvement, I'm a happy camper. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA You trying to make fun of those flaws being in that paragraph or what? o_O There really isn't much in terms of redundancy and meandering there. Although, I should point out that you can't hold message board posts to the same standards as real pieces of writing. When I write a post, I proofread to catch typos and hit "reply". That's more than most people do. When I do a real article, I often spend even more time editing than I do writing. I've written pieces that were bumping 4000 words (and still were just general overviews on a subject), which I had to trim down to 1800. So yeah, you can check your snarkiness at the door.

If you're going to make nonsense posts like that, could you have the courtesy to not break the horizontal scroll? Thanks.

But see, they are expertly crafted to underline the futility of self-referential writing.

That somehow makes it make even less sense.

If the discussion's over, then so is this thread. If not, then continue without all the random crap. Fair enough?

Guys please don't derail the topic if we have nothing useful to say go to Off Topic. Also nice Avatar Sotenga disturbingly appropriate...that guy was probably the best Days enemy.
I don't believe more discussion on the article is required until the re-write is produced. Our cases have been stated.

"Cases"? I don't think anyone has been trying to "argue". The article has just brought a lot of issues regarding the content of the site, so there's been a lot to discuss.

Except it doesn't matter.
For a website with everything available for free, and everything done completely voluntarily (as far as I know) this is more than enough. You want more? Go buy a shitty game magazine that will lose the typos, but also the, y'know, goodness.

This is not the thread to discuss grammar woes with the website in general (though I've never taken issue). By all means create a new thread but this thread has been *off topic* for a couple of pages now. As I said a few pages back the article has bought to light the communities varying expectations for articles and again that'd probably do better in its own thread. The issues that members have had with the topic at hand have been spoken.
