Yeah, I'd have to vote for Fear Effect: Inferno, too. From what I heard, it was cancelled because Eidos was giving Kronos a really hard time with funding for the project. Man...I remember back when the first one was called Fear Factor, back before that dumbass show with Joe Rogan came along.
Good times.

Yo, my least favourite unreleased game is Transformers The Movie The Game.
Because it NEVER came out. EVER.
Nope.

I dunno why but I was always unimpressed with Fear Effect. I think I must've been too starstruck with Resident Evil and I wasn't the only one and this thing went out seriously prepared for a fanbase but nobody cared. I kinda regret it now.

God Damn Fear Effect's first boss is hard. The whole damn game. AND the sequel. Great plot, though.

Don't know why, but back then I was incredibly interested in Echo Delta. RTS and RPG elements mixed certainly interested me. The prototype did appear on eBay with a Buy it Now option of $1,500. I was sad when Citizen X for the Sega CD never came to be. Thank goodness Good Deal Games grabbed it and released it mid-2000 and is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I may be the only one, but when the Wii was announced I thought that Project H.A.M.M.E.R. looked interesting.

Dee Dee Planet - one of the few 100% complete unreleased DC games that are still unreleased and god help me there's a copy out there but I don't know if it'll ever see the light of day.
And of course the Fear Effect : Inferno.

Shenmue III. Need I say more? Come on Sega! If you don't wanna release it, at least give us the complete storyline for it in full. Also, Donkey Kong Music Education. It was advertised as one of the original 1983 games for the Famicom, back when Nintendo themselves was the only company developing for it. The unreleased FC game in question is the one on the top-right corner of this early FC advertisement.

Myhos, an amazing hack 'n' slash RPG developed alongside Hellgate: London, lost to the mists of time when Hellgate sank like a rock, but greatly enjoyed by all who experienced the beta version. Almost everybody agreed that Myhos was actually more fun than Hellgate. If Flagship had released Mythos first, then used money from that to fund Hellgate, then Hellgate may have wound up a much more polished, successful game.
Seems they learned from their mistake, though, as Runic Games is composed to a large degree of former Flagship members, and Torchlight is fucking fantastic.

Dragon Sword, N64 After I had read first tiny previews in magazines back then, I was dead set to buy this upon release. To me it seemed like an awesome 3D version of Golden Axe. There's 4 characters, the last one doesn't have ingame screenshots, I think, but the character select screen shows him as a weird creature. The beta for this game has now been leaked: www.unseen64.net/2010/04/09/dragon-sword-64-finally-shared-and-preserved/

Man, of all of these, Final Fight: Seven Sons depresses me the most. The Arcade mode in Streetwise, if it were two or three stages longer, would've been perfect, and that's what Seven Sons looks like. All it's really missing for greatness is Haggar and some difficulty balancing.

I finished replaying Fear Effect 1 & 2 on Hard mode. It was painful, but fun for the most part.
FE1 has an amazing endgame. So much hell breaks loose.

My pick: Bounty Arms. It's a vertical action game in the style of Ikari Warriors, but the heroines wield grappling arms instead of guns. Think of an overhead Bionic Commando with huge flamethrowers. Data West was going to release it for the PlayStation in 1995, but the game was quietly canceled. A shame, since it's unlike anything else on the market. I found a demo of Bounty Arms and uploaded it here. It's short and doesn't let the characters take damage, but it's an interesting sample of the game. I'd like to refer to Lost Levels, a cool site on unrelease prototypes that has unfortunately been in limbo for over a year. Still, it's got some neat stuff to exhibit: lostlevels.org/I'd like to call special attention to Sunman: www.lostlevels.org/200311/200311-sunman.shtmlI played through it, and it's pretty cool. It's very short and glitchy, but I do like its concept and it could have been molded into a fine action game. Secret Ties is my favorite among the games that Lost Levels has uncovered (well, second favorite, but I can't say too much about that). It's a completely finished NES game based on a comic by the creator of Golgo 13. Not top-tier, but it's solid and enjoyable. Some other favorites of mine: Crank the Weasel: More or less a Tex Avery cartoon turned into a demented sandbox-style game. Canceled because it wasn't much of an actual game. The Ultimate Journey: An NES action-platformer with shooting levels. Finished, reviewed by EGM, and then canceled. Gun Beat: Already mentioned in this thread, but here's footage of it. Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe: It's a decent multiplayer game from Treasure, and the leaked version is nearly finished. Better than Scary Dreams, anyway. Bio Force Ape: Subject of the greatest game-related prank ever. Someone supposedly found a prototype on Yahoo Japan, but I wouldn't know much more.

It hasn't been officially canned yet but I imagine they aren't working on it, the La Pucelle Trilogy by NI is something I've always wanted to see some information about (and... you know... play) With NI's profits down and the company pumping out Disgaea spin off after Disgaea spin off to stay afloat I doubt it will ever see the light of day, especially not here.
