Just beat the Parking Lot Boss in The Evil Within. I thought he was supposed to be hard? I think either Xbox magazine or Edge complained about this boss being cheap, but I "only" died 3 times against him. On average, I get killed about 8-10 times against almost every boss. Heck, the spider-lady chase sequence earlier in this chapter was the big death count padder in this chapter. I generally have more trouble with gimmick battles that require some sort of puzzle to get past the boss than a straightforward fight. The Parking Lot Boss is simply a straightforward slugfest...no complex strategy necessary.

Picked up Demon's Souls again the other day. I finished the game with the magic character I started earlier this year, and I'm three bosses away from finishing New Game+. I'm trying to get the platinum trophy, and I'm closing in on it. I still need one or two more unique weapons and one spell for those trophies. I managed to get the trophy for obtaining all miracles and all rings today. I'm really enjoying this run because I'm finally seeing all of the world tendency events as well as the Mephistopheles quest which was neat. I still have three trophies for upgrade paths, though, and farming will probably take a while for those (I believe I have the Bladestone, Mercurystone, and Darkmoonstone trophies left).
Other than that, I'm still playing Persona Q. Currently I'm three floors into the third labyrinth. I'm enjoying the third labyrinth a lot due to the focus on puzzles. It's still not too difficult, but I'm playing through on normal for my first time through.

That boss gave me trouble; I think I died to several of the bosses at least once each, but that boss you're referring to, when I died to him, it seemed to be really unfair to me. I tried a few times in a row and failed spectacularly to beat him. However, then another try, when his eye/mouth/thing popped out, I shot it a few times with my sniper rifle, and then he went down. It seemed almost anticlimactic. So maybe it was just dumb luck, or dumb un-luck

I'm a couple of hours into Child of Light (Vita version). It's pretty sweet but not very challenging so far. The battle system is pretty fun and a bit more involving and strategic than your average JRPG turn-based battle system, especially with the "interrupt" thing. Sometimes you actually have to THINK, which is rare in the genre (Radiant Historia is a recent exception though).
My only problem is that the world, while gorgeous to look at, is not terribly interesting to explore. It's pretty good for what it is though.
I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

It seemed almost anticlimactic. So maybe it was just dumb luck, or dumb un-luck I basically hit him with two explosive bolts early on, a couple of grenades, then brought out the sniper rifle. I didn't really aim at anything in particular with the rifle, I just shot whatever body part was in my sights. Maybe I got lucky and hit his weak spot, but I'm pretty sure I just hit his leg or arm with the last shot. I just tried to keep my distance with him and always move around him in circles. His insta-kill attack didn't seem to have as far a range as the Spider Lady or even Chainsaw Guy's. With those guys I seemed to get caught in their instakills within a pretty decent radius around them. Then again, I didn't even bother with the shotgun for Parking Lot Guy, so I rarely got that close.

Focusing on Final Fantasy X. The battle system is much more fun than I remember, but I hate the story and characters so much. I usually end up grinding battles for hours just to avoid progressing the story and listening to Tidus and his Wonder Years style monologues. It's unbearable at times.

It's so fun. It bums me out that the best and most significant change to the battle system in years was used only once. And then replaced with a faux MMO system.
But the story plays out like it was pulled straight from some teenagers notebook. The only characters I can stomach are Auron and Khimari, but that's probably only because they hardly open their mouths.

I went to a friend's holiday party tonight. Amongst other things, we played Nidhogg on the PS4. Holy poo is this game amazing. Having a crowd of people in the living room watch two players duel it out is an experience like none other. I fucking need this game. It's on sale on Steam for half-off right now, but I wonder if it might get a further discount later on in the sale?

Not sure I follow you on that one. What do you mean by features like Silent Hill?

I guess you're asking about the "light/dark world" thing? It's not really anything like Silent Hill's handling of it; what happens in Castle A generally doesn't affect Castle B, and map completion pretty much requires you to explore the entire castle twice. Even though they kind of squandered that, and the bosses are a bit on the lame side, I really didn't hate Harmony. I certainly found it more enjoyable overall than, say, Dawn of Sorrow.
