I've got one. Listening to the old GC9X podcast for Zork reminded me of it.
When I was in high school, around '95, I used to help out in the library as an extra curricular. Sometimes the librarian wouldn't have anything for me to do, and she'd let me play games on the computer. There was Number Muncher and a couple other games like that, but there was also this text game that I loved, but I could never get very far.
All I remember is that it started out in the desert, and if you wandered too long you'd get stung by a scorpion and die. If you went the right way, you'd come to a run down building and be able to explore. I usually died in that building, usually from a spiderbite. The setting seemed to be relatively modern, maybe 40's.
I believe (but could be wrong) that the screen was kind of fancy for a text adventure. I remember it being divided into boxes, with some stats in different areas of the screen. I don't remember any graphics, though.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't Infidel.

When i was middle-schooler i saw in PS1 Rents about 2 3rd person shooting games One is featuring dark & murky green hill area and battling demon or monster (I thought it was Silent Hill but apparently it's not) While the other is in wild west theme (of course with cowboy protagonist) and battling turret of sort of that I suspect those are B-rated games. I think

I think I think there were quite a few third person survival horror knockoffs. Could it have been Nightmare Creatures?

While the thing from my memory is about gun combat and stuff and the camera is quite far Thanks anyway

Basically it's a PS1 game set in a D&D style universe using knights and it may have played like brawler rather than a traditional fighter. The only two games I can sort of compare it to for slight reference are War Gods and [spent like five minutes trying to remember] Bio F.R.E.A.K.S.

I filtered through some categories at MobyGames and found Lucifer Ring...is it that?

I remember playing a flash game on Newgrounds that was a lovecraft inspired point and click game, it had at least one sequel, does anyone remember the name? I'm quoting myself, does anyone know the answer?

I've been looking for an NES game for a while, or at least, I think it's an NES game. The basic gist is that it's a competitive Pong game with a twist: the other opponents you face have different AI and paddles! One opponent had a very large paddle that took up almost the entire screen, but their defense was poor. I can't remember if the Pong battles were merely boss fights in an otherwise bog standard platformer, or if that was the entire game.
I could have sworn I-Mockery or Something Awful reviewed the game, but I can't find anything remotely similar on either site. It's possible the game was never released, and was merely a prototype that had its ROM dumped.

Shufflepuck Cafe is close, but the game I'm thinking of was top down like the original Pong rather than angled!

I filtered through some categories at MobyGames and found Lucifer Ring...is it that? The game I'm thinking of is definitely a fighter rather than a typical brawler. The more I think about it though, it seems like it played a bit like Power Stone but I can't be sure except that you can play as various knights or medieval fantasy style characters. Sheesh the name keeps escaping me haha
