Good thing you asked, Shadow Dancer was indeed released there. Never seen Cyber Shinobi, though.

Did anyone here get the new game yet? I've checked a couple of reviews and I'm baffled no one ever mentions the 3D issue... while to me it's so insufferably distracting I always have to turn it off outside of the snowy stages.
But then again, all the reviews also go on lengths about how hard the game is, without even mentioning the easy setting, which is really damned easy, so I might not have to worry about my eyes...

There's one more Shinobi Game not mentioned in the article. It's called The Super Shinobi and it's a pirate NES port of Shinobi III.

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone here knows if Arcade Shinobi on the PS3 "Greatest Hits" Sonic Ultimate Genesis collection is the same as the original release. I know the first release of this collection had the unaltered Shinobi with the Spidermen and Marilyn Monroe posters in the second stage, but did they change it in the "Greatest Hits" release? I think the Greatest Hits version came after the Wii and Xbox Arcade releases which edited out the Marilyn posters and Spidermen, so it got me curious.

Are you positive about the Spiderman thing, because I was pretty sure I had the pre-greatest hits version, and I don't think that was right. Although I'm not certain if I actually made it there on that version.

Although I'm not certain if I actually made it there on that version. Went looking for Shinobi videos, and only found one from the Sonic Genesis Collection, but it's Xbox 360, (and not to be confused with the version on Xbox Live Arcade), which I assume is the same as the original PS3 version. 3:30 in the video and I'm surprised. The Marilyn posters are there, but a blue and yellow guy instead of blue and red. I had always read and been told that Shinobi on the Sonic Genesis Collection was unaltered. You have the PS3 version, right? If this is true of the PS3 version as well, looks like MAME is still the only way you get blue and red Spidermen on stage 2. That said, there is a Platinum Hits release for the XBox 360 and the first "Live" release. Maybe this video is from the Platinum Hits? So again, I wonder if there is a difference between the two.

I do, and I think I'm getting Shinobi games mixed up. As well as my superheroes. I'm sorry for not helping you at all. I was thinking of the second Genesis game I think? Plays a lot like Shinobi III. I think originally it had Batman. But doesn't anymore.

If you don't have the original cart, you probably have it on Wii VC or something.

I did have the cart, a while ago. I guess I don't even remember the last time I played that. I'm just not even sure...

If you have the time later today, could you fire up Shinobi on your Sonic Genesis Collection? It shouldn't take you more than 2 minutes to get to the second stage. Of course, that's assuming you already unlocked the game.

I'd love to, but I'd have to buy it again. I sold all my PS3 games when it went to shit.... Damn. Looks like I have to either wait for another response of hunt down a copy myself. Yeah, I know I could just pick it up for a measly $10 in most places and check--and I WILL--but I just want to know if I should buy one version instead of the other. I mean, 10 dollars is still 10 dollars. If they're the same, though, it makes no difference. There are a lot more NEW copies of the "Greatest Hits" version floating around now, and if the versions are identical I'll go for that instead.

I'm not sure if the copy I have is Greatest Hits or not, but if it is I can try to find out for you either tonight or tomorrow morning if no one else knows.
Update - I have the original release. Sorry.

Never mind folks. I picked up a new copy of the first release of the Sonic Genesis Collection at a store that had one lying around.
It's the same as the video above. Marilyn posters intact, spider-men are blue and yellow instead of blue and red. I doubt the Greatest Hits version is any different. This should probably be noted in the hg101 Shinobi article where the version here is described as "near perfect". Well, technically it is near-perfect except for this, but if people are searching for a non-MAME arcade perfect version of Shinobi with blue and red spider-men, they should know that they don't exist,
