For the first time in I don't know how long, I actually like the subtitle of a Metal Gear game. It looks as though Big Boss loses an arm at some point in the story here, which fits with the term "Phantom Pain".
Man. I want to believe in this game so fucking bad. Kojima's kind of the master of the bait and switch trailer, though. Ah, who the hell am I kidding. I'll be getting this bitch on day one. Collector's edition, if applicable.

Phantom Peen. It's about how they got his nut to make the clones.

I'm actually thinking that will play some role here. They say something about him being in a coma for nine years. Previous lore had stated that Big Boss's DNA was taken while he was in a coma from some unspecified injury.
-Edit-
Wait a second. Back the fuck up. David Hayter ISN'T doing Big Boss's voice? What kind of fuckery is this?

Well, Kojima is a bit of a princess so maybe he had some kind of falling out with Hayter over some lame thing.

I'm not sure if the fact that you know it's a trap, but plan to walk in anyway, makes it worse or better.

Good job Konami, you got me to finally buy Peace Walker. I'm probably getting this on release as well. Hell, I'll probably play through Snake Eater and MGS4 again...

Yeah, assuming this happens, and isn't some elaborate troll like every other thing out of Kojima, he's probably going to give the job to his chauffeur or dog walker or some shit, I mean hey, it worked for Scott Dolph. Also, Meme, Gene, Scene, Peen.

For those who missed out on the live stream of KojiPro's GDC, you can watch it here. They show some in-game footage from the hospital escape sequence (which seems to be a tutorial mission set before the actual openworld segment). The staff also talk about the development process of the game engine and there's even a daytime version of the early Ground Zeroes trailer from PAX showcasing the FOX Engine's use lighting. This incorporates aspects of the Ground Zeroes footage we've seen, but I don't know if they will be separate games or what. Kojima confirmed that GZ and TTP are indeed the same game. The GZ portion is probably just a prologue mission much like the Tanker chapter in MGS2. Solid and Liquid were already born two years prior to the events of PW. They're even mentioned at the end of the game. Confirmed by Geoff. I'm pretty conflicted by this. On one hand, I've never really been a fan of Hayter's performance post-MGS1 (his gruff came a bit too forced ever since MGS2) and I never even liked the idea of Solid and Naked Snake sharing the same voice actor (DNA duplicate or not). On the other hand, they already had Hayter as Naked Snake in MGS3, MPO and PW and having someone else at this point ruins that consistency (they did keep Quinton Flynn's Raiden in MGR after all). The new actor sounds way too young to be Richard Doyle either.

I guess we can just think of it as another retcon, like them eliminating Mei Ling's FOB accent (sob).

I don't recall anything about that.[/quote] It's in the "secret call" briefing tape, which plays a wiretapped conversation between Kazuhira and Zero, although you only get to hear Kaz's side. He asks about Big Boss's "sons" at one point. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMa5TgX624QAlso, MGS3 already revealed that the LET project happened at the end of 1972 and PW was set in 1974.

Ah, don't remember any of that for some reason. Been wanting to replay the MGS series lately anyway, though.
