I'm probably going to get bricks thrown at me for saying this but: Streets of Rage.
I know, right!? But these days I can't quite like that name so much anymore. I find Bare Knuckle to be a cooler-looking/sounding title than the US name for the series.

I'd have to agree with Suikoden. I love the classic series, but trying to ask for one (or worse yet, trying to get a game store kid to find the title in their computer for upcoming releases) was a nightmare, heh.
TBH, game title generally never really stand out or both me much. What I can't stand nvideo game name wise, are people in MMOs that choose non name names(like a title or a description or somthing. For exsample, somebody that names a priest "Iwuztoohealz" >.<) I hate it!

Does shareware count? Because Win Pelvis-N-Space is hard to top...

I think another one of the best bad names is Fight For Life on the Jaguar. It came out in 1996, and by then the Jaguar was suffering in sales. Isn't it a little bit poetic that a game is released called Fight For Life while the system it is released on is literally fighting for life and losing? I don't hate the Jaguar or anything, I just think it's kind of a cool coincidence, even if Fight For Life's title does look like it was chosen by a random fighting game name generator.
Also, I played a game called How To Be A Complete Bastard once, but I don't think it counts because it's based on a book with the same name.
Edit: 500th post. I'm a god mortal man now.

Why would that count either way? That's an AWESOME name!

Re Suikoden: I never had a problem with the series' general name itself, but Suikoden Tiekeris or whatever it was called? What in the name of made-up nonsense is that?
The name of Tales of Legendia always bothered me for some reason, probably because it just HAD to make the word "legend" extra-fancy.
There are plenty of character names that bother me, particularly from the Star Ocean series (although I love some of those characters). JRPGs in general tend to go waaayyyy overboard with the pretentious, contrived, Mary Sueish names, frankly.

Are you trying to claim that the name "Fate Leingod" doesn't project a quiet, unassuming, humble image? *shock*

Does shareware count? Because Win Pelvis-N-Space is hard to top... That guy who made Binding of Isaac made a game with a really terrible name that I probably shouldn't say. I'll say it anyway. My stepdad only reads half of what I say on here. It's called Cunt.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Resident Evil. I don't see what was wrong with Biohazard. Maybe copyright? I mean, the game takes place in a house. But there's monsters in it! It's like they were gonna call it "Spooky House" and then grabbed a thesaurus.

It's the verb "resident" -- as in, a lurking evil or a present danger. I think it has a nice poetic ring to it, personally.

I believe there was a band called Biohazard which is why the original title wasn't brought over.

It's really pretty clever. It could refer to a haunting, or a lingering sense of dread like the sort of thing one feels when visiting the Manson house or something. It's the verb "resident" -- as in, a lurking evil or a present danger. I think it has a nice poetic ring to it, personally. -Tom Yeah this basically. Also as someone who works with biohazard materials it's probably better that that sign remains sequestered as something not to be used commercially.
