Just realized you can sit on the benches in the Chinatown stage.
edit: also you can enter the bathrooms in the casino and if you go in the men's room someone kicks you out.

Just realized you can sit on the benches in the Chinatown stage. You can sit on anything that even remotely seems chair-like anywhere in the game, it seems, as there was a chair in one of the mine tunnels in stage 2 too, and I was able to sit on that as well. Little stupid details like that always charm me in games. -Tom

The Mega Man X style bosses-explode-forever is pretty good too.

It would be nice if the characters had a downward thrust kick or something that would bounce you off of an enemy. Lilac has a dive kick, (Down+B in the air) if that counts. Doesn't bounce you off enemies, though. See, the thing is, even though it looks like Sonic, it's the physics and such (Among many other things) that make it its own unique thing, so you can't really play this by playing it like Sonic. I will say that Lilac and Carol have at least one move that'll put them at top speed, if that helps. Actually, it brings you to a bonus game where you can get shields and extra lives and stuff with the little circular orbs you get from chests. I'm pretty sure that's all those orbs are for. Sure, I'd be up for it! Mostly I want to spread awareness around where I can because more games like this seriously need to be a thing. Stuff like Shovel Knight and Retro City Rampage are great, but there's no real representation for 16/32-bit era stuff, and I really hope this changes that. There was just another one released a couple weeks ago, though. I don't remember the exact title, even though I bought it. Something like Terran Saga [some combination of letters and numbers], I think?

So wait did I miss something here? (stage 5ish) Two seconds ago I was in a prison and now I'm free? Wha?

So wait did I miss something here? (stage 5ish) Two seconds ago I was in a prison and now I'm free? Wha? Yeah, for some reason, levels 5-6 feel like they're...missing scenes. That said, if you're playing as Carol, I might be able to explain that one. Liliac's plan to confess is simply a ruse; she claims Torque had nothing to do with it so he can go free and hopefully complete his mission. She also requests a chance to apologize to him, which she uses for a chance to escape. It's just...sorta taken for granted that Carol and Milia escape, too.

Yeah I am, and that's what happened. She's just like "it'll be a piece of crab cake!" and then BAM next level.
Are there only the 3 characters?

Torque and Spade will be in somewhere down the line as free DLC.
Also, you can now get this game off of the Humble Store, if Steam isn't your thing.

Good to know. I'm fine with Steam, but if there's a DRM-free option, I'll always choose it first.

Here's a bug I've found. In the Serpentine fight in level 5 if you get caught in his purple upward shot wave against the wall, and it kills you at the top, it can get you stuck in your damage animation and you become invincible but you can't move. I just slid all the way across the battle arena and now I don't think I can get un-stuck without restarting the game. edit: Okay the restart option puts you back at the last checkpoint at the cost of a life, so that's fine. Still a pain.

Ah, man. Thankfully, nothing like that happened when I played, but "stuck" bugs like that are some of the worst besides save corruption. EDIT: Oh, thank thankfully, lives are just for show. Using a continue puts you right back at the last checkpoint. Kinda makes me wonder why the game even has lives beyond something like "authenticity", but it doesn't make the later bosses any less difficult.

Can you buy things with the crystal shards later? I notice it keeps a running tally of the shards you've collected but I see no purpose for them outside of gathering lives, which are pretty worthless.

There's an achievement for clearing the game with over 7000 crystals. That's pretty much it.
