Pretty sure that's Jon St John doing the V/O there. The fixed camera angles look like they improve the games visuals by no less than 20% (that bit where he's running from the fire actually looks cool) Also curious minor spoilers mid/late game That fight against the plant monster is completely fabricated since the only way uninfected Eliot would be fighting it is if they went back after the whole thing was cleared out for absolutely no reason.

I just found Robert Short's IMDB page for those curious about everything he's worked on. That fight against the plant monster is completely fabricated since the only way uninfected Eliot would be fighting it is if they went back after the whole thing was cleared out for absolutely no reason. It's entirely possible to fight it as normal Eliot if you simply ignore it the first time you enter the room. What amuses me the most about that trailer is that they thought the stupid stamp machine in the supermarket was worth showing.

Has anyone patched the English voices over the Japanese version of Blue Stinger? I'd love to play it with a fixed camera. EDITWoah, wait, maybe the Japanese version already DOES use the English voices! I'll see if I can get an ISO working. Yea, the Japanese version has English audio w/ Japanese subtitles. The camera isn't fixed the whole time; it's more like Silent Hill's camera where they have dramatic angles that the camera freely transitions between. Since I finished Oath in Felghana this afternoon, I spent a little time screwing around with the capture setup and, yea, audio is still a bit dicked. Turned it down a little and just started playing for about a half hour any darn way because I'm tired of being megabehind y'all. Here's some shots so far: If I can get this audio problem licked once and for all, I'll cap some video. Looks like there's some sort of ground loop causing problems with my Audigy 2ZS... so if I somehow fry myself while trying to fix this, someone please come to my house to delete my browser history. Thanks!

The game looks way more visually dynamic, what the hell were Activision thinking.

I think in some instances a hybrid approach would have worked best. In the really large outdoor areas, a free roaming camera makes sense, but in cramped interior spaces, a fixed one would have done wonders for the US version.

I have played this game for around 20 minutes now! First impressions are:
1. The story managed to go straight into batshit insane territory within minutes. That's rather impressive.
2. The automatic camera is pissing me off.
3. Punching monsters is kind of fun, and I was disappointed when the game gave me a gun because PUNCHING.

The game looks way more visually dynamic, what the hell were Activision thinking. After looking at those regional differences, I think Blue Stinger would have been a little more popular if there was less tampering with the camera. Either way, I don't think this is as bad as a lot of people say. It's nowhere near the worst Dreamcast game.

The problem is, I keep dying because the camera won't let me see stuff that's two feet in front of me. The first two boss battles are in VERY small areas, and the monsters themselves will get up in your grill immediately. You should keep your distance, but running is a a risk in itself. I usually stop moving only to discover that the enemy is somehow right behind me. I'll get smacked at least once in the time it takes me to turn around and shoot.

I ordered a copy of the Japanese version from Ebay, so hopefully that'll get here in time to check out the differences.

The batshit insaneness is like the one thing I remember from the magazine reviews at the time (to be fair, I've heard basically nothing about the game since the DC's launch, and since this was like 13ish years ago I barely remember that).

People who call it the worst DC game haven't played the bottom of the barrel DC titles, something like this. Heck Blue Stinger is probably better than the Dreamcast version of Beserk.

I may have to try The Ring when I get the chance. I like a bad game every now and then. All this time I thought the worst Dreamcast game was KISS. I've heard bad stuff about Soul Fighter and Toy Racer too, but I haven't played those ones.
