I got really annoyed with FFX-2 because there's so much missable important content. I'd like to go back though with a faq.
Interesting about the NHK poll. Shows the best FF is the one you grew up with. I thought FFX was a very poor FF game. Loads wrong with it including an awful post game with terrible minigames for the best weapons. I really liked FF1 and think it's a better game than FF3, I think FF3 was then the series really took off in Japan. I've no nostalgia for FF1, just think it's a very good NES dungeon crawler.

It is so easy to just screw yourself out of 100% or content in X-2 even with an FAQ! I did use one at first until I locked myself out of 100% very early on by approaching the Moonflow from the Highroad instead of using the airship drop point. Apparently you miss out on a dialogue that way. I would never have gotten 100% anyway, but it is frustrating to totally miss out so easily. Plus, you can also locked it out by missing something so minor and hard to see in the prologue. Here's the full list for context. I grabbed the text below from Siliconera for full disclosure. There's also lists for favorite characters, bosses/summons and music. All of these were apparently picked from literally every single game, character, boss and track. I read somewhere that the character portion had over 3000 choices! 1. Final Fantasy X (2001) 2. Final Fantasy VII (1997) 3. Final Fantasy VI (1994) 4. Final Fantasy IX (2000) 5. Final Fantasy XIV (2010~) 6. Final Fantasy V (1992) 7. Final Fantasy VIII (1999) 8. Final Fantasy IV (1991) 9. Final Fantasy XI (2002~) 10. Final Fantasy XV (2016) 11. Final Fantasy Tactics (1997) 12. Final Fantasy III (1990) 13. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (2007) 14. Final Fantasy XIII (2009) 15. Final Fantasy XII (2006) 16. Final Fantasy Type-0 (2011) 17. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (2003) 18. Final Fantasy II (1988) 19. Final Fantasy X-2 (2003) 20. Mobius Final Fantasy (2015~) 21. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (2013) 22. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (2003) 23. Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008) 24. Final Fantasy (1987) 25. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (2007) 26. Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy (2011) 27. Final Fantasy Adventure (1991) 28. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (2011) 29. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (2009) 30. Final Fantasy Record Keeper (2014~) The 30-39 age group was nearly half all the respondents, so the top ones do fit as childhood/adolescent games. XV is the odd one out until you look at the demographics and see that it skewed female 72% to 28%! I wish there was a demographic breakdown for each one instead of the just the top ten plus XII, I and Crisis Core. XIV at #5 is interesting to me considering how disastrous the original launch was. Seems pretty beloved by everyone by these results.

Final Fantasy III is a much more developed game than I, which is as basic and repetitive as it gets. You're starting to get a proper storyline, there is much to find in the world you explore (more realized towns, more varied locations, hidden treasures, side-dungeons, etc.), the dungeons have hidden paths, the gameplay has a lot more depth (both the battle system and class system), it's just by far the most realized example of NES FF. It clearly dominates that generation of the series, in the same way that FF6 clearly dominates its generation.

Didn't think Cloud would be so popular!
I was so sure Sephiroth would be leaps and bounds near the top, and at least above Cloud.

It doesn't help that FF1 and 2 are known for their glitches and broken systems respectively. They also had a lot more JRPGs to choose from in Japan back in those days. Phantasy Star, Megami Tensei and DQIII were all from around the same time. Can't speak for II or III since I haven't played those, but FF1 is pretty poorly thought out in a lot of ways. I still found it fun, though. 14. Final Fantasy XIII (2009) 15. Final Fantasy XII (2006) Hmmm...interesting to see 12 lower than 13. And just so low in general. I feel it's gone through a reappraisal* here in the west the last couple years, maybe that hasn't happened (yet) in Japan? Then again, these lists are never exclusively filled in by people who have played all entries, so it's always highly dependent on other factors besides the quailty of the games. *Yeah I know the game was highly recieved when it came out

Haha, I think FFX is #1 in Japanese polls for over 10 years now.
The fact that they rank both XIII and Lightning Returns above XIII-2 means that the Japanese should never be trusted, tho.

I have a friend who brought 2 bags of 360 games. Inside was...... 2 copies of Too Human. Why? I think there was a very brief period of time that people thought it might become valuable. On the other hand, I somehow have 3 copies of SMT: Nocturne and 4 copies of GTA: San Andreas.

Got a Super Retrocade from Amazon a week or two ago and reading a review for it it has arcade games that says that it's illegal to play them outside of their country of origin (some U.S., some Japan I think,) when starting the games up I've known about this many years before getting this system but I sometimes wonder the legality of this. Like to know how serious of a crime (if it even is these days) to play these games. I assume no one really pays attention to this or it's no big deal to the law.

Bought a number of games over the past two months online and one of them is Bomb Chicken from Limited Run Games (also got Saturday Morning RPG also from LRG.) I've never heard of Bomb Chicken before but it sounds interesting. You play a chicken that can lay bombs and goes up against the BFC company (KFC parody.) I've yet to play it but hoping it's good.

Been pushing myself to get thru alot of my backlog since I have so much free time now. May have over done it. Wound up 100 percenting Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. Really, great games and I can't believe it's taken me up 'til now to finally get thru with them. As collectathons I don't really mind them as much, but damn the 2nd game really did up the ante when it came to scouring levels for all the jiggys. The games themselves have great humor and I found myself laughing at the convos Banjo and Kazooie where having rather consistently. The boss fights themselves were not too hard, but they had their moments where it felt like I was fighting what felt like an unfair fight. Like Lord Woo Fak Fak.
Also played thru Kirby 64 for the first time which makes it the first Kirby game I've ever beaten. But that game felt more breezy and I didn't even grab all the stars. As an overall experience it was pretty forgetful. Hoping that future Kirby games have a bit more bite to them.

Then play Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.
