A Suikoden successor? Well I NEVER..... I remember when we didn’t need spiritual successors to every other Konami franchise. Like to see something for Silent Hill.

Trying Crosscode again but I have a problem with the upgrading part. The game is set up like a MMORPG set in a single player game and it allows you to upgrade your character Lea the way you want to. I'm not sure what's the right way to do this. Do I upgrade her like how I want to play her (like have her good at close up melee attacks over fighting from a distance or vice versa,) and not go in a certain direction with her or can I upgrade her stats where all of her abilities will be unlocked over the course of the game? I'm fairly close to the end of Crosscode myself with 30 hours played. You get more than upgrade points over the course of the game to put them pretty much wherever you want. You also some reset consumables if you want to try different skills but I haven't seen a reason to. I think at max level you can cover the entire grid. I'm in the mid-forties right now and have a lot of it open outside of some 3-4 point boosts. I like the game but damn is it frustrating sometimes. Some of the enemy types are very annoying and the puzzles can be exhausting. Nothing like rolling into a room with 20 movable panels trying to line up four different shots to hit switches. Or an enemy that is immune to damage until you time a perfect shot. 20 movable panels for a puzzle? Game may be harder then I thought. Shame a strategy guide doesn't exist. Probably will have to resort to Youtube for help.

Like to see something for Silent Hill. Huge grain of salt of course but a rumour has been around since early this year that a Silent Hill reboot(?) has been in the works at Sony so you may get your wish. The Suikoden successor looks really promising. As someone who hasn't gotten round to that series yet it should give me time to do that. Any suggestions on which entries are worth my time?

I haven't played them for ages, but Suikoden 1, 2, 5 and Tierkreis are worth a shot. If you want to recruit every member for the true ending, then I would recommend a guide, due to the fact that some party members are missible or you need certain member during a fight. The first two Suikoden have the early standard jrpg length of 20 - 30 hours. Suikoden 1 and 2 can be played through the Playstation Network, if you have ps3 or Vita. I can't really remember much about 3, tactics and 4. I never played the latest psp title.
Tierkreis is an spinoff, but has the spirit of the series, although it is meant for a younger audience, it still has its moments.

I'd say play the first two Suikodens. As jackcaeylin said they can be completed in 20-30 hours each. If you really like them, go from there.

Thank you both. I have the original on PS1 and was able to get half an hour to start it over the weekend. Seems like there's plenty of guides about so I've made note of the missables. From there I guess I'll pick up number 2 on Vita and see if I feel like moving onto 5 down the line. THe short length is a big part of the appeal. I'm a bit burnt out on 80 hour rpgs right now.

Just keep in mind that III and V are more the over-indulgend RPG length of 50ish hours xD

Okay, seeing Igarashi in this skit is pure love. They have my pledge, and my money.

Happy to see the NotSuikoden (SuikNOTden? Suikodon’t?) kickstarter has been a success so far. I promised myself not to back another KS after Bloodstained (loved the game, hated the waiting and uncertainty) but now I might do it anyway. I really wanna see this game released, it really feels like now or never. If this fails I doubt we’ll ever hear about a successor again (And the REAL deal is so dead it’s not even up for debate anymore)
EDIT: Wow. Cuphead is suddenly out on PS4. I’ve waited so long!

The secret to enjoying a Kickstarter is to back it then immediately forget you backed it. Everything from Kickstarter has been heavily delayed so just forget it and when a release date does appear it's a nice surprise.

This totally happened to me when I backed Kurt's Hardcore Gaming 101 obscure Japanese games book. I totally forgot I even funded it, and had to answer to my wife when 2 copies of the book suddenly showed up last year. Also looking to pick up Cuphead on PS4. You would think it would have been ported around the time Switch got it.

Cuphead and Ori are the only two games that made me want an Xbox this gen. Had there been a Fable that would’ve been hard to resist too (Don’t ask me why, I was not entirely happy with Fable III. I just find Fable to have some of the best atmosphere and world building in the business. Gameplay however, not so much...)
It was completely different last gen when Xbox 360 was my main console. I barely touched the PS3 except to play Yakuza.
But yeah, so excited for Cuphead!

Incidentally it was also the Switch launch day when it arrived and I had also ordered a PS4 to arrive that day. The other half was maaaaaad.

Hooray, Wilmot's Warehouse is next week's free game on the Epic Store. I came really, really close to buying appending that to my backlog on the Steam summer sale, but nope! I win this time!
(For the record, my main picks from the Steam summer sale were Cuphead, Finding Paradise, Bloodstained COTM, Octogeddon, and Treasure Adventure World, so you can expect all of those to be free in the weeks to come.)
