I try not to keep much of a backlog and don't get anything without finishing what I already have. I really hate wasting money so I sometimes force myself to finish games I hate although most of those end up being on the short side at least. I tend to be a little looser on GOG since a very large chunk of my library there is basically a digital archive of games I have physical so I don't consider those unfinished games backlog since I did play them in the past even if I didn't finish them.
Overall, I only consider myself as have 3 backlogged games. The Alliance Alive HD I preordered as it had an inexpensive special edition, and I always intended to get the 3DS version but never got around to it; I still wouldn't have gotten around to it otherwise a year later. The 25th Ward: The Silver Case is mostly a victim of me having to remember how I got the original to work in WINE, and I haven't been moved to do that yet. Journey of the Broken Circle on Switch I got for free a few days ago, and I'll play through it once I finish up with SMG since it's supposed to be short.

I've started just curating the games I need to play. So trying to finish up the certified classics or the weird and interesting games.
I realise I've wasted an awful lot of time chasing after and playing the latest and great new release and not really enjoying it while stuff like Tactics Ogre rots in my backlog. And even recently I've been a victim. I held off getting and playing Last of Us 2 as I knew I'd find it a waste of time but common sense did not prevail and I ended up enjoying it even less than I imagined. So as an antidote I've started Deus Ex and making sure I finish it this time.

I must admit I actually like to have a decent sized backlog so I have a choice of what to play. I don't like having nothing to choose from particular systems or genres. Though I find the most played game tends to be the 'selecting what to play next' game.

Now I don't feel so bad about my backlog... considering since the lot of you have it in the hundreds! As expected dsparil, your backlog would be miniscule considering the rate you've been devouring and finishing games these past few years.
I certainly haven't been disciplined. Starting and juggling several games. I barely started on 13 Sentinels, and then I JUST jumped on Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth because Steam was selling for 20% discount. It's beautiful, familiar comfort food gameplay.

I've always really churned through them, and I technically might have slowed down a little bit since I've been trying to finish more of them. I think $2 per hour is a good value so I try to get at least that much out of something before putting it aside which ends up being a complete playthrough a lot of the time.

Deathsmiles 1&2 coming to Switch, PS4 and XBox.
Next year's starting to look a bit crazy for me.

Anyone remembers that famous engrish meme in P.O.W. style game, that starts something like "Let's kick those butts" something? You know, bad translation like "All your base are belong to us" type of thing? I think it's been mentioned by Snake, but i can't be 100% sure.

Re: the whole backlog thing. I feel pretty bad about having like 30 or so unplayed (or barely played) games on consoles/handhelds and about 40 or so on steam. I'd probably be broke if I had a backlog in the hundreds. Kirby really needs to go back to being more experimental. The current formula feels tired to me. I agree. I've always liked how different each other games were up until the GBA era. For a spinoff like this it doesn't really matter, but I hope we're not going to get a fifth mainline game in this style. Even though I do like the recent Kirby games.

Personally I miss when the spin offs were really different too, like when we had Dream Course and Pinball. Kirby used to really be pushed as an experimental series. I guess it's too costly nowadays for that to happen.

I think it’s time for a bigger budget, more ambitious Kirby game, a full 3D adventure like Mario Odyssey or at least Galaxy. I bet they could do something pretty amazing if they had the money and time.

A 3D Kirby was one of the three scrapped Gamecube games. Blowout Blast seems like it has elements of that game, so I think it was ultimately decided that too many aspects are unworkable in full 3D since BB doesn't have copy abilities. Star Allies had a long period of post release content additions, so I think it's a design rather than budget decision to stick to side scrolling.

Live a Live was mentioned a short while ago. There's going to be an aniversary live stream on October 3rd. We'll see if they announce a world wide virtual console release of the SNES original or a smartphone port or something then.
