Devotion is back on sale but only from Red Candles site. Bought it myself with the OST to help them out. That's cool. I'm probably going to buy it too! Also they say that their next title will be a 2D action-adventure game with no horror elements... that's interesting, too.

Remember that really awkward trailer for the Dark Alliance game that was announced a couple Game Awards ago? Well a new trailer dropped...

The free anime channel on Roku was airing episodes of the old Street Fighter cartoon tonight. No, not the anime Street Fighter II V, but the cartoon that aired on USA. I watched the Final Fight episode and what I think is the last episode because it looks like Bison dies at the end. I remember vaguely liking it as a kid but jeeeeez this is pretty bad. The animation and fight choreography is extremely poor and there are some grotesque characters designs to boot. It does have one pretty great line though.

I started Deception IV: Nightmare Princess and I'm totally addicted. Only ever played a tiny amount of Trapt before but really want to play the rest of the series eventually. I looked into this series a while back and I thought it looked really neat, but I couldn't get a grasp on whether I'd actually enjoy playing it or not. It is perhaps a little too unique for me to quite 'get it'. Hopefully you will have more to say as you progress. Nice to hear you're having a good time with it though.

While we marvel at his wit, it's just another Tuesday for good old Mike.
I'm not too familiar with this series otherwise. Is it at least as entertainingly bad as that clip suggests?
What I am more familiar with is Street Fighter II V. I remember it being pretty decent, but also pretty slow paced: They sure did get a lot of mileage out of their animation frames, most notably the ones of characters charging up their special moves.

To quote some website I read on the internet a loooong time ago, the show is "GI Joe with special moves." It makes a mess of the characters and the canon of Street Fighter (if you care about that) but there are some fun episodes, like the Final Fight one which has Ryu and Ken infiltrating the Mad Gear gang. It's pretty entertainingly bad for the most part. Watching this video might be the best way to enjoy the showThere's also a Darkstalkers cartoon from around the same era and I don't know much about it except it seems to be written extremely goofily, almost a parody. It's pretty wild.

A character wrecks a car in one episode and it'll be brought up in episodes after that.

I'm more or less finished with what I was playing on Switch (3D World and Monster Boy: The Dragon's Trap to be specific), so I figured it's about time I add a new Switch game to my collection. I'm really slow at buying current-gen games these days. Is that just me/my choice of games or is that something others here have noticed? The only current system I own is the Switch, and I've only amassed 16 physical Switch titles since the system's launch. That's 4 games a year. And I only have a few digital titles and didn't buy a ton on PC either. Anyway, I was deciding between Crash 4 or Xenoblade 2. But whoops, I guess Europe doesn't deserve a physical release of Crash 4 on Switch. I really hate it when they don't release big games physically for no reason, and they haven't been clear on that before release either (at least, not from what I've noticed). I guess I'll have to see if I can import a copy some time. For now I ended up getting La-Mulana 1+2 since it was finally priced down and Age of Calamity since I've been pushing my luck in avoiding spoilers successfully a little too much I feel. Devotion is back on sale but only from Red Candles site. Bought it myself with the OST to help them out. I still can't believe both Steam and GOG are too pussy to allow that game on their store. At least it's nice that the game is back up and that that's getting a fair deal of publicity.

I'm getting from your posts you're a bit younger than me so apologies if I'm assuming incorrectly, but when I was a young adult, something that's difficult for me to claim now, that was the time in my life when I had the least time for hobbies what with career, friends, dating, studies, travelling etc. Generally these days I am more settled. Particularly right now of course when there is depressingly little to actually do. I'm playing more than ever. Too much really. On the Switch my physical count is 90, with a couple more coming in the next week or so. Like you, I don't buy a tonne of digital games and that library has benefitted from a lack of competition from other systems. Switch has almost every game I'm interested in anyway, which is unusual. Generally they're divided between many platforms, but I'm probably buying a little bit more than the last couple of gens. The problem I have is, even though that's a lot of games, there's still way more I could pick up, so I feel I'm lagging behind. Even more on actually playing them. It's a good problem to have though. It's nice to have a choice. I remember on Wii U I just bought anything that reviewed well and still it wasn't close to enough for me. Oh and also I don't have kids. That's the biggest time constraint for most people my age. No regrets here though. Who can find the time when they have a game backlog....

I am probably a bit younger (I was born in the year of our lord 1994), but I wouldn't say I'm very busy or anything, at least not compared to previous years. The only major differences in my life compared to the 3DS/WiiU gen is I'm living on my own now and I'm watching a lot of movies. I think it's mostly the kind of (retail) games that are coming out these days. Back in the GCN era the most time-consuming games were ones that primarily revolved around couch multiplayer. These days online multiplayer, long singleplayers and roguelike games are the norm. I've talked about it before, but according to the Switch parental controls app, Splatoon 2 is still my most played game most months. That game is nearly 4 years old now. Games just have too much content/replayability these days. But the WiiU had a lot of titles that I spent a lot of time on too (Splatoon, Mario Maker, Smash 4, Mario Kart...all have playtimes in the triple digits), and I bought about three times the amount of games a year that gen, which is what makes it so curious. Playing through Bowser's Fury and 3D World combined in under 20 hours was very refreshing.

Can confirm that kids really eat into your game playing time. I wake up incredibly early on my own and I get most of my gaming in around 5:30 in the morning.

It is perhaps a little too unique for me to quite 'get it'. Hopefully you will have more to say as you progress. Nice to hear you're having a good time with it though. Well I'm fully addicted to the game now. I can safely say it's incredible and can't wait to try the other games in the series. It's basically you creating Rube Goldberg Machines to kill enemies in the most creative way possible. There is a fdanger you can always fall back on the same old traps but there's no fun in that. However the game actively encourages you not to. Some enemies are invulnerable to different types of traps or only vulnerable mid combo. You can make these enemies vulnerable to all traps by breaking their armour by hitting them with their weaknesses in a combo and sending them flying. There's also three girls that give you optional objectives during stages. It encourages you to get creative. I also like that you don't level up in this game. EXP and currency just unlocks more traps so you can have even more fun and experimentation. Stages are littered with stage hazards as well which you can use in your combos as well. It's all about positioning the enemy to be hit by the next contraption and it's so satisfying when it works. And then there's a mission mode that gives you bite sized timed objectives to complete that are like little puzzles. It really teaches you advanced techniques like repositioning traps mid combo to extend your combo well past the amount of traps you are allowed to set. And I've not even gotten to the Nightmare Princess expansion!

I'm going to go with it's all the Splatoon 😉 I think it's about equal to the Wii U/3DS era for me including digital as I basically have no physical games anymore. It's just BotW for standard editions and XB2 and The Alliance Alive HD for limited editions. R-Type Final 2 limited edition is going to be the fourth. I used to buy used games, but I feel like on Switch most of the games that would be cheap used end up getting discounted to that price during an eShop sale anyway.

For now I ended up getting La-Mulana 1+2 since it was finally priced down I recently played maybe 4-5 hours of La-Mulana 1 before realizing that I cannot for the love of me keep going. I am just not good enough, or have patience enough. It’s a shame to give up cause I can see why this is such a well regarded game. But I can’t figure out what the hell I am supposed to be doing most of the time, and it frustrated me like no other game had frustrated me before. That is, frustrated by my own intellect, or lack thereof rather.... Never been so overwhelmed by a Metroidvania.
