Advent is alright; it still has the annoying Metroidvania issue but it's not as dull as vanilla ZX.

The background art and the music are better in ZX, though. It's a shame, really, that the series never got a third installment. Maybe they'd gotten EVERYTHING right in that one.

I guess zero4 kinda balanced the elf system, since you cant have all boosts at the same time. Raising your health has always been part of the series, but probably never went to such extents as to quadruple your health...
Im guessing the crappy skills and tougher enemies are that way because the damn small screen area which really doesnt let much for platforming without resorting to leaps of faith.
And thats kinda my problem with the MMZ games: the skills being so crappy and the whole elemental system. would have been really nice if defeating a boss would give you skills similar to all those awesome moves you get in MMX5 (well, maybe not as awesome as in MMX5 since that game made zero godlike)
ZX advent cuts the roaming but theres still some walking time. Great games tough.

I completed Mega Man 2 over the weekend and noticed that Inafune's name doesn't appear in the credits. Is he not credited or is his name mistranslated?

Good old INAFUCKING. I believe he uses the same nickname in MM9/10's credits.

For Mega Man 9 & 10 article, there is artwork done in the style for the nonexistent covers. Here's ones you can use to go alongside the campy US cover mockups. It's the same as the ones in the original submission but with the logos imposed on top

It should be noted that the only NES Mega Man game that lists him in a somewhat central role is Mega Man 4 (ironically one of the most disliked?), before he turned into a series producer in the PlayStation era. He's one of a few Japanese developers whose importance for classic games always seems to get overstated due to their later place in the spotlight, like Rieko Kodama and possibly Yoshiki Okamoto.

Looking at the MM9 original arts for the Robot Masters, if it weren't for the little 8-bit Mega Man I'd claim that those were Battle Network enemies. Not sure what about it flips that switch, but it does. Even Galaxy Man, and they aren't all that different.

Aww, once again I disagree with Malev regarding MM10's music. I think it's pretty good, especially when given rock arrangements. I especially liked Sheep Man's and Solar Man's theme. Btw, there are official arrange soundtracks for both MM9 and MM10, and they're both pretty great (the links go to the download pages from MMNetwork). Some picks below: Splash Woman from MM9 Wily Stage 1 from MM10

Wow, why did they abandon the Honey Woman concept? She looks more memorable than Hornet Man!

I'm pretty onboard with what was said in the article - there are a handful of great songs in Mega Man 10, but a lot of boring ones too. I remember not caring for the MM9 arrange album, but I haven't heard the one for MM10.
I loaded the Mega Man Legends games on my PSP last night. I've got a few other big articles to clear through first, but I'll see if I can work on these next. I beat all three games back when they came out, so it'll be interesting to see how they held up. The first game was a pain to control even back then.

Yeah I generally think MM10 arranged is better. The Wily Stages always get me pumped (I think MM10 in general has the best Wily stages themes). Kinda annoyed by MM9's arrange of Galaxy Man, it wasn't good considering its source.

I wouldn't say the music in 10 is completely terrible, nightdreamer, but it is very uneven. Most of it's due to many of the tracks focusing on fitting a theme rather than having a catchy hook that you can hum. Pump Man's all echoy and grim for a dank sewer level, Strike Man's mimicks the rowsing cheer songs of Japanese baseball, obviously Chill Man the standard ice stage motif, etc. It's just with the Robot Masters culminating a who's who of past composers, it's dissapointing that it doesn't mesh as well as 9's RM stages quite as well. Of the 8 main stages though, Nitro Man and Solar Man's music are tops, having the composers from 1 and 3 respectively. Under that are the okayish tunes of Sheep Man and Blade Man, the former 5's composer and the latter from one of MM&B's team, which has majority very forgettable tunes in it. The other 4 just didn't stick in my mind as well. Inti Creates' trio of songwriters did good for the rest of 10's score, balancing up and down with their work in 9. Fantastic for Wily 1, 2, & 5 and the GB DLC stage arrangements while somewhat blah later Wily Stages and the Endless loop. tl;dr, MM10 sorta has the same issue that Thunder Force VI had: hyping with so many big names in the VGM business (11 composers in total, not counting the original's being arranged) only to turn out kinda "ehhh" overall. As for the loss of Honey Woman? Internal politics, from what I heard. Someone on staff at Capcom or development side stated that there could only be one female Robot Master, so it was either/or. Don't ask why. No word why there wasn't a girl RM in 10 though. I do know that many of the designs were simplified to look more feasible for an 8-bit platform. I loaded the Mega Man Legends games on my PSP last night. I've got a few other big articles to clear through first, but I'll see if I can work on these next. I beat all three games back when they came out, so it'll be interesting to see how they held up. The first game was a pain to control even back then. I did play through 1 & 2 and a little of Tron Bonne somewhat recently (2012), but my screenshots were taken not in scale, so I'd need to do another run through all 3 again, since I've been brewing the article in my mind as well. It'd probably take many elements that I've seen iwant do with his articles, having big segments on the influences on the series, the world, the cast, and then the games and their demos and, of course, the Legends 3 debacle. I've heard that the PSP Legends 2 fixes up the water temple's slowness, though the control scheme can only account for the original's digital no-twin-sticks controls for obvious reasons, so no fancier camera movement.
