Music -- yeah, I can kinda see that, but at the same time I think the 'mood' approach lent itself better to the arranged soundtrack than the MM9's 'melodious' approach. Then again, maybe using the arrange version is not the best judge of original's composition, but I think it's a case of the 8bit audio samples not being very complimentary to MM10's music.
Yeah the scrapped designs looked like they were made for 2.5D platformers. My point that she's a stronger design still stands though -- I really like how the bee abdomen functions as her skirt, and her nest hand is pretty neat too!
Also, oh man, Thunder Force. Those games have some seriously ill OSTs, but I haven't heard much of VI's. V's ROCKED!

I did play through 1 & 2 and a little of Tron Bonne somewhat recently (2012), but my screenshots were taken not in scale, so I'd need to do another run through all 3 again, since I've been brewing the article in my mind as well. It'd probably take many elements that I've seen iwant do with his articles, having big segments on the influences on the series, the world, the cast, and then the games and their demos and, of course, the Legends 3 debacle. I've heard that the PSP Legends 2 fixes up the water temple's slowness, though the control scheme can only account for the original's digital no-twin-sticks controls for obvious reasons, so no fancier camera movement. If you want to write the article for Legends, I'll hold off on it, but I'll still take care of the screencaps, to make it a little easier on you. Also, oh man, Thunder Force. Those games have some seriously ill OSTs, but I haven't heard much of VI's. V's ROCKED! Thunder Force VI...doesn't. It doesn't feature any of the composers of the other games, so it lacks a single unifying style that's nothing like the previous games. Honestly I can't remembert much of anything about it, just like the game, it's really bland. Just listen to the fake Thunder Force VI soundtrack (i.e. Broken Thunder), which was done by the same composer as TF5 and is much better.

I think some songs in MM10 were better than MM9 in a way.
For one thing, I felt MM9 was a bit too hard on the ears in some of its tracks.

I actually thought MM9's arranged album was really bad. Most of the Inti ASTs were anything but stellar, really. The final Mega Man Zero album was the only one I felt was really good (Mythos? Was it dubbed Mythos?)

No, I had actually forgot about that release. It's pretty cool soundwise (most of the earlier ASTs sounded like cheap soundfonts), but I'm not crazy about the track selection. I guess the stuff from the Zero series I liked the most were the harder, faster tracks, and it's a rather good decision that they did not use these for acoustic reworking. Still, most of my favs are missing from that one.

Just out of curiosity, has it ever been explained why Mega Man's arm canon switches arms constantly in all the promo art? And also why he appears to have two hands while not shooting? Rather than having a blaster arm and a normal one, his hand transforms into the buster. Both his hands can transform. He usually only uses one at a time tho, which is why his shooting arm changes depending on the way you face. In Mega Man 7, equipping Protoman's shield swaps Mega Man's shooting arm from his left to his right. He also uses the Slash Claw with his left hand, but there's no hand to cannon transformation. Also, Mega Man 7 has an imminent Wii U VC release in Europe. The release date is listed as today, 7/25, but European eShop releases come out on Mondays aside from retail downloads. So, 7/28 at the earliest for Europe and maybe a North American release a few months afterward. The no VC line in the article is going to have to change soon.

Yeah, when this was written, Capcom did not announce their major eShop release schedule. Next thursday for NA is the first Battle Network, with a list of filling out the market with MM7, X3, the first few BNs, Zeros, and even the missing Gargoyle's Quest 2, Demon's Crest, Breath of Fire 1 (finally), and possibly more.

I've had to play through MM9 and 10 to get screenshots for the article, and even as a big Mega Man "hater" (disclaimer: I don't hate them, I just felt that after one classic Mega Man game and the first Mega Man X, I've seen everything I'd ever need or want from the series) I have to say that Mega Man 9 is a pretty damn solid game. Mega Man 10 on the other hand bored me almost to tears, especially the grotesquely long Wily fortress, even though I much prefered Protoman's abilities (didn't have access to any of the DLC). But it might have been because I played it after 9 and I had already more than enough again...

Yeah, it's a good thing to take a break since they are aesthetically quite similar.
An overdose is never good. It can ruin one's interest in series or even consoles. After the Wii I was quite done with Mario and Zelda; actually Nintendo, and it took me years to embrace them once again.

Never understood why Mega Man 9 and 10 weren't released as a single retail release. I thought they were fantastic games. Since I actually saw a DVD release of Duck Tales Remastered for the PC last month, I agree. If THAT is worth a retail release (and a PC version, too) to Capcom, why not MM9&10?
