Not necessarily music that's been ripped off (we have a thread for that already), but music that gets reused in unexpected ways. I'm not talking about, say, the Super Mario Bros. overworld music getting reused in Super Mario RPG. If it showed up in, say, a Kirby game, that's what I'm looking for. But let's start with the real reason I started this thread: Interstate '76. Activision went all-out with the 1970s feel of the game, right down to forming their own 70s-style funk band (Bullmark) to perform the soundtrack on vintage instruments. Here's an example of what that sounds like: Fast forward a year or so. Activision put out Zork: Grand Inquisitor, widely hailed as a return to form for the Zork series after a handful of critical misfires in the likes of Return to Zork. Grand Inquisitor aims to be silly. It succeeds. But here's what's relevant: Listen closely once the player has paid the ferryman. It's the same song! (Also, the music that plays before said payment is another track from Interstate '76.)

The character select music in Mahjong Pretty Girls Battle is the exact same menu music, in the exact same terrible sound quality, used in Crimson Comic's first J-Girl Fight game, which was produced not only in Flash, but in genuinely awful quality. Because it was a doujin porn game. This sticks out because those Pretty Girl games have solid production values otherwise.

Posting the examples I listed on a similar thread a long time ago... One example I can think of is one related to Matt Furniss. Daffy Duck in Hollywood's first stage music, Scalp Trouble, is pretty much the same as the wild west music from Soccer Kid, also composed by Furniss, which came out earlier. Funnily enough, the SNES port of said game has a different track for that portion of the game. vs. There's also games that end up reusing tracks from other games. A few examples I can think of: -Cruis'n (Wii) and Target: TERROR both share a song, in Cruis'n it's one of the menu tracks, while Target: TERROR uses it for the name entry screen. Here for Cruis'n, here for Target: TERROR. -Battle Mania/Trouble Shooter and DecapAttack have the exact same stage clear jingle. Considering Vic Tokai did both... -The Genesis versions of Lotus 3 (Lotus II RECS) and Nigel Mansell's World Championship share a race BGM: on Lotus it's one of the selectable tracks, while Nigel Mansell's has it as the only race music. Honestly can't think of any cases of one game remixing music from another...but I know a case or two of movie/tv licensed games that effectively utilized the movie score in the game. Usually they make an original soundtrack for the game, and maybe only feature the theme song at most. But sometimes they go all-out and use as much of the soundtrack as they can, to make it as authentic as possible. Take a couple examples from Ultraman: Toward the Future:

This is the first thing that comes to mind, for me:
They're not even developed by the same company: Rygar is Tecmo, while Jekyll & Hyde is Bandai. I always wondered why both games use the same track -- has there ever been an explanation given?

It also sounds quite a bit like Metallica's Seek & Destroy, which was more current when MM2 was released. I guess it's those diminished (or are those actually 5-? Dissonant either way.) chords.

There's the Top Gear soundtrack which is taken from the Lotus series.
And I believe of the tracks was also used on a Genesis sidescroller, but I can't remember the name now.

These tracks are indeed eerily similar, but there are some slight pitch, tempo and instrument differences between the two (Rygar's sounds "fuller" than Jekyll and Hyde's, IMO). Maybe they are both based off another, unknown track?

The thing is that said track from Lotus III, "Space Ninja", is based off of one of the tracks from the original Amiga version of Zool. When Zool got ported to the Genesis, rather than do a version of the original track as all other ports did, the devs instead did a version of "Space Ninja". Amusingly, the Genesis port of Lotus III, Lotus II: RECS, doesn't have "Space Ninja", but it does have a track from another game from the same devs. I mentioned it on an earlier post in this very thread.
