I believe we talked about relaxing games not too long ago but I'm not sure but one thing probably not mentioned was something called ASMR. (I did a search here and found nothing.) It stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. It usually happens with relaxing and it to best describes what it feels like is having a sense of tingling on the head or elsewhere on the body. I often compare it to having someone rubbing the top of your head in a very good way and it tends to feel very good. There's a lot of videos on YouTube (mostly done by women for some reason,) and I enjoy it a lot. I could go into more detail about it but this is about experiencing it during game play. I often found it happening during certain stages in Kirby Epic Yarn and certain scenes in Dragon Quest 8.

Someone once linked me to one of these ASMR videos of a girl putting her mouth close to her mic and whispering sweet nothings into it. The constant audible smacking of her lips was like water toture.

What have you done? I never heard of it and when I searched ASMR on Youtube it's like I fell down the rabbit hole. It's like a new generation of Bob Ross type videos with girls. I think I get the sensation sometimes, never think anything of it. I would get into the "zone" and forget my troubles like right now keeping cool even though I have no A/C in the house.
I think Animal Crossing would do the trick. Flower... Currently level grinding in Etrian Odyssey for me because the labyrinth music is usually quite tranquil even though FOE is always one step away.

Backstreets of the Mind, when you're not in the middle of a minigame. Game Dev Tycoon is endlessly chill once you figure out the formulas to good games. Kirby's Epic Yarn goes without saying.

I'm still training myself for the sensation. Old DOS games with beeper sound are supposedly a special treat with headphones on, but your meridian levels need to be ultra high.

Huh, I never actually knew was something that was recognized in such a way. I actually have experienced this now and then and for me its linked to intense dramatic music. One game that did it often for me was Boktai when you were finishing off a boss on the pile driver. Haven't had this happen in recent years but I definitely experienced the symptoms many times in the past. Crazy. And funny enough I did make a thread about this waaaaay back when I first showed up here. I believe it was the first thread I ever made in fact. hg101.proboards.com/thread/1957/tingly-feeling

There's S&M, and then there's being a nnneeeeeeerrrrrrrddd.

Attempted to watch this, but went for a nap about halfway through a vid. I guess this makes me susceptive to ASMR, doesn't it? Jeez . Let's just hope this is not a pathology

Never was into that ASMR thing, but I like playing games while running my favorite ambient albums on a background from time to time. SimCity and Euro Truck Simulator make for a perfect option with that kind of playing, Minecraft fits surprisingly well too.
