Dunno about the last dungeon feeling abrupt, you mean you think it pops up in the story suddenly? It's been a while since I played it and parts of the story are kinda cryptic, probably intentionally to give it a certain vibe. Final Fantasy III - Long dungeon, flurry of bosses before the last fight. Final Fantasy IV - Long dungeon, flurry of bosses before the last fight. Final Fantasy V - Long dungeon, flurry of bosses before the last fight. Final Fantasy VI - Dungeon split between 3 parties, flurry of bosses before the last fight. Final Fantasy VII - Dungeon, pick a party that meets up at the end. 3 bosses. End game. Final Fantasy VIII - Dungeon, flurry of bosses before the last fight. Final Fantasy IX - Dungeon, flurry of bosses before the last fight.

But there is nothing left to fight at the end of VII besides Jenova and Sephiroth. It would be incredibly silly if they summoned a group of b-grade sentai generals out their ass or another set of weapons, just to have stop gaps in the final dungeon because JRPG.

Ah I see what you mean, but I thought the weapon fights made up for it and don't really mind not having a boss gauntlet in the final dungeon as they tend to feel too drawn out and repetitive.
"Couldn't you just play Dune 2000?"
Well if you haven't played it, it feels pretty different (basically like a red alert reskin with new live action cutscenes that kinda suck) and it's easier as well.

I really wanted to like Dead or Alive Paradise in a dumb fun kind of ridiculous way. But that incarnation of the subseries was more boring than watching grass grow on the moon. Never played that one, to be honest since a big part of the appeal is the graphics and I don't just mean the girls, but the tropical island environments as well, scaling it down on the original PSP makes no sense. This is one of the problems with DOAX3 is the girls look fine, but the environments look kinda ugly.
