-Spend less time procrastinating on the web and actually play games instead of just thinking about it. Ha, this is very relatable. I try to spend my free time more wisely these days. Whenever I noticing I'm not doing anything besides kind of dick around on the internet I try to just force myself to play a game or watch a movie. Sometimes, though, it's so easy to just hang around on my computer wasting my time.

as you're making your way through your back catalog it only continues to grow as more and more games continue to be released. True true. www.engadget.com/2017/12/28/half-life-3-fan-venture-project-borealis-is-taking-shape/Me, I'm just gonna play Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. That's pretty much it. Maybe I'll try to squeeze in something else if I manage to Platinum them all this year. Just wandering what's their new game might be, they teased a couple of weeks ago. They sure take time with the reveal.

How are they gonna handle the voice acting for that? It would be weird not to have the actual actors back, especially in the case of Alyx. Also, why the flying fuck has Valve not spun off a separate developer solely for continuing Half-Life? It's clear there's many people who would love to, Valve could stand to make some money off Half-Life, rather than none, even if it's not as much as what they make from DOTA2. I just don't understand that company at all.

Buy less, beat more. Don't worry about earning 100% of Trophies/Achievements. If the game is starting to get boring, move on to something else.

I'm glad I've never been one to care about earning 100% of Trophies/Achievements, but I have a problem with dropping games for the most part. I've dropped so many games in the past that today I really try to push myself to finish what I start, I mean unless it's a game that flat out sucks (in which it's rare I play much of it) if I liked it at the start I try to push myself to finish it because I'm usually glad I beat it instead of didn't. One good recent example is Wasteland 2, the game goes on for so long and there were times where it got tedious and I wanted to quit, but I forced myself to stick with it until I beat it and I'm really glad I did, now Wasteland 2 is a game I can say I've played rather than hang over my head as unfinished business. Probably the game I devoted the most time to only to drop most recently was when I tried to replay KOTOR in 2015, I was well into it but found the overall game pretty dated and eventually just couldn't force myself to keep playing.

Sticktuitiveness is pretty key to making progress on a backlog. Unfortunately, games just keep getting longer and longer in this modern era. I really miss the era when a game could be a weekend rental, or a week of straight play tops.

- I hope this year I get around to finally playing Phantasy Star III and IV, so I finally achieve my nearly decade-old goal of playing through the whole classic quadrilogy.
- I hope to finally play a Deus Ex game.
- play Planescape: Torment
- play Chrono Trigger
- play the original Crysis
- play Battletoads
- play a bunch of 2017 games I have yet to play (every Switch game, Nier Automata, Wolfenstein II, Evil Within 2, Dream Daddy, West of Loathing, Brigand: Oaxaca, etc.)
- play Final Fantasy Tactics
- play Silent Hill 3
- play Resident Evil Zero
- replay Metal Gear Solid 4
- replay classic Resident Evil games
- whatever else comes to mind

- play Planescape: Torment That's one of those games, along with Arcanum, that I'd love to play but just don't know when I'd find the time. Last time I played some PC WRPGs like that was when I when I replayed Fallout 1 and 2 at the tail end of 2015 and the start of 2016, maybe it the planets align I could play those two late 2018/early 2019. (also, yes I'm aware there's shared developers between those 4 games)

You don't really play Planescape: Torment so much as read Planescape: Torment. In a Choose Your Own Adventure kind of way.

This is the one thing I do have going for me. Though I do tend to buy some games every Steam sale.

- replay Metal Gear Solid 4 Don't really have a strong desire to play that one for a third time, but I am wanting to replay MGS 1-3, don't know if I'll be able to do it this year though, but on the other hand it really wouldn't too big of a time investment and this fall it'll have been 7 years since I last played them, which is crazy, doesn't feel like it's been that long, but it has. I'd like like to play the original MSX Metal Gear again and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (it'll be ten years this spring since I played the original Metal Gear in fact) Oh yeah and Metal Gear Ghost Babel, still need to give that one a first time playthrough. And shit... I've also been wanting to play Snatcher and Policenauts. Guess I'll have to have a Kojima marathon one day in preparation for Death Stranding, I have a feeling I'll have plenty of time before that one comes out though.

Such a troll of a company either way

Such a troll of a company either way I think Valve will let them do it, they didn't have a problem with Black Mesa and wound up giving it an official release. While they may not go that far, I would be surprised if they sent a cease desist letter, Valve could not give one single fuck about Half-Life and it's fans and the one silver lining to that is the fans can do what they want and not worry about copyright infringement.
