The Ao Oni movie was kinda lame, too. Though I think there's a second one and I do wanna see it.

Yume Nikki remake gets a 2.0 Update version
I am not really interested in playing the whole game again just to see the new content, but maybe they listended to the feedbacks? I don't really see the sock puppet style dungeons. Still, nice addition from the developers
Yours sincerely

I am very pleasantly surprised that it's getting such a big update. I'm definitely down for a replay to see new content.

The 2.0 update is live. I'm gonna play it tonight but does anyone know if the new areas are threaded through the base content, or exist separate? I dunno if I need to start a new playthrough or just use my complete file.

Hi, 1upsuper! Did you play to the 2.0 version of Yume Nikki Dream Diary? Did they add meaningful content? I played the first Yume Nikki and I read about the mixed feelings regarding this sequel, so I would like to understand how better it is getting, or if I should wait more.
Thank you!

Thank you! You know, I got a little ways into the new content and then stopped again. You have good timing though because I've been planning to get back to it. The new content did add at least two more areas directly inspired by areas in the original. It seemed to add a fairly substantial amount of content (at least relative to the size of the base game, which is rather small, but typical for the genre). As it stands, I think it's worth playing with the caveat that it plays and looks nothing like the original, and it has different goals. I personally enjoyed seeing the various nods to the original, especially in the form of the plentiful concept art you can find scattered throughout the game as collectibles. I think this new game has a pretty compelling, dark tone and some interesting environmental storytelling too. But the fact that it isn't exceptional at anything and also only gestures vaguely at the original makes it a bit hard to enthusiastically recommend to anyone.
