I just want to know what it's going to take to get another Bully. I admit that GTA4 pretty much turned me off on the entire series, and Red Dead Redemption, while I wouldn't call it awful, has such a slow start for me that it's taken me some time for me to get back into it. ...I just really, really want another Bully, man. Damned straight. GTA IV was the point where the series lost me too. Never played RDR, and I all but know for sure it's not my thing at all. Bully though... stunning game. Loved the visuals, the story, and maaaaan that soundtrack. Riding around town on a push bike with that music and setting - one of my most cherished gaming memories. Hit me right in the feels it did I was a little disappointed in IV, but V is a really, really big improvement. A Bully 2 would indeed be awesome and to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Rockstar does make one someday.

Supposedly they tried to make a sequel to Bully a while back, but it got cancelled. Damn shame. Maybe someday...

I feel like the huge shitstorm Jack Thompson raised about it probably hurt it's sales.
The idea was this was a Rockstar game even kids could play, right? But with Thompson going around calling it a "Columbine simulator" I'm sure that kept a lot of parents from buying it.
What a fucking prick that guy was.

Possible, but people always try to make Rockstar games out to be a debauchery trainer for children. I think it was more that the mainstream just didn't give a shit about playing as a kid compared to dealing drugs and killing innocent people.

Not many. I must confess that I've yet to play GTAV. But I'm terribly curious about what the next GTA will be like. We probably won't know until a while after RDR2 comes out. I'm so bad at beating GTA games that the only one I've played through is The Ballad of Gay Tony, which I liked a LOT. It was a long wait, but my intro to GTAV was the PC version and when I hopped into a blimp and flew above the city at night it was literally breathtaking, you should definitely give V a shot one day. I never did play any of GTAIV's DLC, including Gay Tony, never say never though. As far as a future GTAVI goes, my gut feeling is that it's going to be a return to Vice City, given the ocean exploration stuff in V, it seems like the perfect setting to expand on that. Also to be honest, I think Rockstar never needs to set an entry in anything other than Liberty City, San Andreas or Vice City. That provides a perfect cross section of America and any other city would either be too similar to another (you could do a Chicago equivalent but it really wouldn't be too different than Liberty City) or just not really scream "GTA" enough, so given that IV was Liberty city and V was San Andreas, Vice City seems like the next logical step. We probably won't see it for years however, 2019 at the earliest would be my guess. I've been thinking about a return to Vice City for a while now. Just imagine it with next-generation graphics. Such neon, much wow. XD The whole running around killing people randomly thing never really appealed to me. But in Dead Rising, you can kill zombies and still-living villains guilt-free. That's my kind of open world game. Speaking of GTAIV, I kind of loved Roman. He was fun and funny, though kind of embarrassing.

Actually, back on the subject currently at hand: not only have I no experience with any of the GTA games, but there was once a time when I believed all the bru-ha-ha surrounding it. Yeah, very much regret that.
Nowadays it's pretty clear to me that complaining about all the sex and violence in media (whether in GTA or otherwise) makes zero sense when parents are refusing to do their jobs and pay attention when a game's rated M. Also there's good reason to believe that sexy stuffs and violent stuffs are cathartic. So yeah, I made a big mistake back then, siding with Mr. Badd...err, I mean, "Jack Thompson"...on them for any length of time.
(And yes, my IF-itis has progressed to the point where I'm referencing HDN characters even when that's not the subject at hand...hee hee, cool!)

GTA V fixed about 90% of what they fucked up in GTA IV, for those of you who quit after IV. It feels a lot more like San Andreas than like IV.
Personally, I put the Saints Row series leaps and bounds above IV, but V is, to me, better than any of the Saints Row games. (Granted, SR 2 is my favorite and I feel like the series jumped the shark with 3.)

What a shit show that was. I actually tried playing State of Emergency a while back on PCSX2, out of my own personal curiosity. These days, though, you can't really play a game about running around a crowded public environment unloading automatic weapons everywhere without starting to feel deeply, deeply uncomfortable. I mean, at least the game doesn't actively encourage you to kill the civilians, but that doesn't really help at all.

Lets not forget State of Emergency. What a shit show that was. Oh damn, yeah. Between that and Manhunt, Rockstar really filled their "look how edgy and cool I am" phase.

Bobinator It was definitely a different mindset playing it back then. It also didn't help that it just wasn't a very good game anyways. @jasonx What a time to be alive. Manhunt was at least playing of the horror movie trends at the time, albeit in pretty distasteful ways. State was a bad game that was pushed to the top of the shit heap because of the softball pitch of hype the ESRB and government gave it.

Not something I really "afraid" to admit as much as unpopular opinion, but I find nothing wrong with so-called "fishtank" games for smartphones and social networks (the likes of FarmVille and SimCity BuildIt), at least as a genre. There are really shady schemes involved in some of them, which is why it's a good idea to read comments or reviews to check them on possible "paywalls", but it's not that bad of a genre on fundamental level - there's some zen-like appeal to customizing your city/farm/park/airport/etc and seeing it grow day by day, and lack of challenge or winning/losing conditions (the most common argument against this kind of games) means you can just relax and screw around with things for a minute or so before returning to something more stressful. They also tend to have reputation of being "manipulative money-munchers", and for a reason, but aside of couple particular examples (like that ridiculous "port" of Dungeon Keeper, or some Facebook games that require excessive invite spamming to advance), it's not really as bad as people make it look like - in majority of them you can still progress with reasonable pace without paying anything, and as long as you treat it like some kind of "meditative mass-scale tamagotchi", which it basically is, you will be fine without in-app purchases (in fact, speeding up your progress by "bribing the way to victory" only ruins aforementioned "zen appeal" )

Okay, here's something that I'm actually embarrassed to admit:
I get very bad gamer rage, even now in my thirties. It's a shamefully regular occurrence for me to spontaneously scream and curse at the TV or punch a wall so hard I actually hurt my knuckles. It was enough to make my ex-GF so upset that I had to limit gaming when she was around. Note that this doesn't happen with every game or even every hard game, there has to be a feeling of unfairness or being cheated to set me off. I can die multiple time in Souls games or roguelikes and just get mildly annoyed, but playing against the AI in TTT2, Magic Duels or most racing games has me immediately on the edge.

Oh no, I don't think there's anything wrong with the concept, but it lends itself very easily to abuse.
-ed: Oh yea. Fishtank games.

I have a Rockman Collection Special Box, that includes Rockman 1-6, Rockman X7, and some pins. I have yet to open any games. I also bought the PS4 Megaman Legacy Collection, which is essentially the same thing. I have yet to open it as well.
I also picked up the Final Fantasy Collection for PS1... twice. I bought it the 2nd time because the Anniversary Package was released that included a clock of Terra/Tina Branford.
