I was kind of being facetious. Though the ryona games do put me right off my dinner.

I'm pretty desensitized to video game violence... but the fatalities in Eternal Champions on the Sega CD are horribly screwed up, except for the clown car one.

I see this game was released outside of Japan, and no one made a fuss about it. Damn right, these finishers are even more disgusting with pixelated characters, rather than MK's digitized actors, but the latter was all the rage in the early 90s so it gained more notoriety.

Mortal Kombat was the poster child - probably more because it was in an arcade cabinet that would be displayed in public (such as a mall, where those impressionable childrens would see it) Eternal Champions was really designed as Sega's answer exclusive release to the ultra-violent brawler niche. (this was during the height of the SNES/Genesis rivalry, so competition was intense). incidentally, EC had a huge budget for its time. I had a copy of Eternal Champions on Sega CD back in the day, and it really did have some gory images in the environmental kills, but it wasn't released until the Mortal Kombat thing had really already blown over, so it didn't get the same notoriety as MK did (if I'm not mistaken, Carmageddon was the trending outrage product around that time)

The one really gross one from Eternal Champions on the Sega CD is the one where the loser gets thrown into a machine that kinda removes their bodily layers piece by piece. Screwed up, thought there is a mildly funny part with some chattering bone noises I guess. It sounds simple, but is downright horrifying in execution (no pun intended).

You should know this one already. There's no detailed gore, but what in the world were they thinking anyway? This poor guy screams in agony and then dissolves, leaving a heart behind. Zelda's reaction? GOOD! That's brutal in a way.

That Barbarian 2 screenshot's got a whole different kind of gross-out factor with the skin-coloured blood. Euegh.

One of my favorite games on the Turbo CD is Beyond Shadowgate. It's a sequel to the classic Icom game, but is a side scrolling action adventure, and is fairly gory as well. Here's all of the death scenes.
A couple of my favorites are at 5:06 and 6:20

Here's a couple of classic ones from Riana Rouge. I did an LP of this years ago over at Something Awful. Hell of a game.
