TIE Fighter is great and perfectly playable with a mouse+keyboard or keyboard alone, but it's really a game best with a joystick. It was the reason I got one in the first place. Disadvantage with a stick is that while you can have the most important controls at easy reach with enough buttons, there's still enough that you need to keep the keyboard around and can't just put it away. I played it so much I probably would have bought some specialized Steel Battalion style controller with everything right on it.
One "bug" with both X-Wing and TIE Fighter is that enemies can lock on with missiles and fire their lasers at the same time which you can't do. I remember reading about someone playing X-Wing and thinking it was an advantage the Empire had only to have Rebellion ships do the same thing in TIE Fighter!

Be sure to have a look at the discord channel (das sharezone room) if you want to see some more lists, guys.  There's a lot that I haven't played enough or need to refresh my memory of from this year, but I remember it fondly. At the time I mainly played F2, BG and Starcraft. Well, mainly Starcraft for a couple of years! RE2 was S at the time but found it a bit hard to go back to recently, I should play the remake. |
