Well, variety is pretty good. I assume you're talking about my first paragraph, so I'll just say that I think Overwatch (for instance) strikes a good balance: you have the "sex appeal" characters like Widowmaker, but you have other archetypes too, which are sexy in their own way. Like, say, Tracer, or Mercy. (And no, don't ask me for my ID or whatever for Overwatch. I don't actually play that game, I just enjoy some of the character designs) Ah don't bother. He can only get off to characters from Hyperdimension Neptunia. His wife's even taking to dying her hair purple just so he'll notice her. Hey, they're sexy characters (also, remember what I said about unironically liking Idea Factory/Compile Heart's games...)! Also, I should totally try dying my hair purple...but I don't know, I kinda like my natural hair color, but blue/purple/some other "unnatural" color would suit me pretty well. In fact, I was just looking at sexy fanart and official art of Iris Heart...damn that's one sexy goddess!

Crazy colors like that will really damage your hair, so take that into consideration.

But...it's...it's so sexy...but then, I think smoking is kinda weirdly sexy, but that's obviously hell on your body. Incidentally, is that bit about your wife dying her hair purple to look like...I assume Neptune...true ? P.S. No, I don't smoke. I hate the smell, for one. Plus I'd rather not die early and painfully, thank you very much.

Sorry to ruin the fantasy, but no. She's never even heard of the franchise, and I'm only just barely aware of it. The general concept sounds great, but any Idea Factory/Compile Heart game makes Super Monkey Daiboken look like Chrono Trigger.

Aww...won't change my mind about playing their games, though (I warned you!). But hey, I still like this site despite its obvious bias steamroller, so whatevs. (Wow, not ten posts in and I was already trolled by the forum regulars...I guess I'm kinda...somewhat more initiated now?) EDIT: For the record, I...well, actually, this is kinda funny. I registered just to say I disagreed with the site's opinion on their games, and sure enough, yeah, I meet someone who disagrees with me almost instantly. Well, hopefully this doesn't sour our relationship...for what it's worth, that did make me laugh! There...are...however, a couple lingering questions. First, should I feel special in having this prank happen to me? Or do you guys prank every new user at least once? Or just the ones who are Neptunia fans? Second, how many people actually played these games and realized they didn't like them, and how many people are just taking the main site's word as gospel? Cause I can't help but feel at least some here are in the latter group, and they should really at least watch some LP episodes before deciding it's not for them (this goes for any game, BTW). Sorry if it sounds like I'm preaching, but...well...I'm legit curious about that.

I'm not sure it's a prank, honestly...as much as I can say I've met people who like the Neptunia games, even they acknowledge that they're a bit on the trashy side. I haven't bothered with any of them myself. They don't look like my kind of thing.

I haven't bothered with any of them myself. They don't look like my kind of thing. I bought Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth 1 and couldn't get into it. Gameplay was ok. Kind of action-rpg style, similar to Phantasy Star 0 or Chantelise. Story was just a mash of video game related puns that didn't really fit together. It felt less like the writers knew anything about gaming history and more that they were given a list of names and told to work them into a generic fantasy story.

I only played the first Neptunia on the PS3. It began with some skin crawling writing and then transitioned into some dungeon crawling that would've looked dated on the PS2 but ran at a worse frame rate.
I'm told that the later entries and remakes are better, and I'd believe it, if only because you can only go up from there. I do have one of the Steam ones I got in a bundle. But there are only so many hours in the day to see if it's worth returning to, and so many other games I'd rather play.

The writing's still kinda dumb, though, but I for one enjoy it. But I can see why some people might not. Also, weasel, I recently realized that, no, it wasn't a prank on me, so much as a prank on Jason X. Also, I'll admit, it's dumb, and grindy, but fun-dumb. But I'm kinda in the exact right target audience for them, so yeah, you might not like them as much as I do *shrugs*.

But, I can keep trolling you if you're into that kind of thing. But, I was going with a franchise that just had trashy looking anime characters. Something really stupid. You follow? It's the internet you have to deal in absolutes, not all browsers can process grays if you catch my drift ;P And I have played Hyperdimension Neptunia. A bit of it at least. But I'm not fond of the writing. That kind of thing made me hate FFX-2. A game with an awesome battle system. Guess how I feel about HN with it's rather lackluster battle system? That said, the version that came out for Vita played rather well. So IF is getting better. There's one game I really rather enjoyed from them, it involved playing Kerplunk with deities. Can't think of the name right now.

But a minor prank here and there between friends is always good Second bit: Well, I personally like anime. And trashy anime characters. Especially if fanservice is involved. Why do you think I have one of my favorite characters as my avi now (well, that, and it gives me a niche on a rather...big forum)? Third bit: Alright, fair enough. And yeah, as much as I like them, they did have quite the rocky start. But then, so did Squaresoft, and look at them now (inb4 "Yeah, they're making shitty Final Fantasy games again")!

Hope you like it here. But we're not really that big. It's probably the most family like forum around. I mean all the active regulars you'll find on the majority of topics. And we're not really too much of an echo chamber. The only consistencies you'll find is that Super Metroid is infallible. 90% of AAA games are trash. And Kings Field is better than sex in a swimming pool of chocolate.

Yeah, I get the feeling we'll get along just fine . Though I don't know, sex in a chocolate swimming pool is pretty damn awesome...Kings Field has to be really, really awesome.

<Vokkan> An amazing game, once you get used to the outdatedness. The second one is even amazinger. I secretly think of [King's Field] while making out with my girlfriend. <Klaid> There I don't think there is a better way of describing this forum than that.
Thing actually said around here.

Hey, King's Field laid the groundwork for the Souls games. Everything that came after is just polish.
