best bet is to get an IRC program (though there are net-based ones) I use mIRC because I've had it for..well a very very long time..it's resonably self explanitary from that point because the IRC front-end program acts as a guide.

Get mirc here. Install mirc. Start mirc. Go to Options. Important Menu Items: Connect (wherein you give yourself a nickname) Servers (wherein you select the Psigenix Server from the list) Then push the button "Connect to Server" and exit the options if they don't go away automatically. Watch the status window unfold. When it says "Welcome to PSIgenix", you type the following command: /join #hg101 and everything else will explain itself (or be explained by us). Good enough? We'll see... ;-) |

I tried joining once and I didn't do it right. Now it says my Nick name has already been taken. Now I won't be able to join.

mIRC is driving me apes*** with its ads when I start it up, I need another client that does aliases so I can type /pw and it inputs my password.
I've been using mIRC for years, but I dunno, it's just gotten too annoying for me.
So I ask you, the viewer:
What do you use for IRC that's free/open source and supports aliases and doesn't suck gigantic horse dongs? I mean, I don't want to go using an IRC client that pratices bestiality.

I use "registered" mIRC 6.21 and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon. The never versions have been awful since.
If you want to give it a shot, I've heard a lot of good things about hydraIRC. Best of all, it's freeware.
