Though I'm not into 'girly' anime like Utena, Cutie Honey, etc., Cutie Honey, girly? It's by Go Nagai it can't be girly.

Yeah, it's girly if you're lesbian, maybe. The overwhelming majority of CH anime/manga since the 70's are guy-oriented, with all the fanservice and ecchi content (like nude transformations, clothing damage, etc.)

Okay, I guess girly is a bad word. I mean something that has a lot of focus on skimpy girls.

Can't wait for these animation movies, been a while since I have been excited about more then 1 title: MARDOCK SCRAMBLE REDLINE TAILENDERS TRIGUN BADLANDS RUMBLE

New Trigun coming out, huh? I'm all over that once it's available in English.

Personally I didn't like the anime that much, I prefer the chaotic mess of the manga, Trigun Maximum. But I watch it in the hope to see some Yasuhiro Nightow enemy character design somewhere.

Yeah, only 1/4 of my top 20 would be consider "shoujo" anime. Utena, Honey and Clover (well it's josei but close enough), Princess Tutu, Rose of Versailles, and Oniisama e... I also don't like a lot of girly anime/manga even though I am a girl.
Utena may look really girly but it does have a lot of GAR attitude. Rose of Versailles is a great historical piece (that is surprisingly accurate out side of the made up main characters). If you like stuff Legend of the Galactic Heroes it maybe worth checking out, they share a lot of similarities.

I'm sorry, but Utena and Cutey Honey being "girly" is a hilarious notion. Utena is classic, and even I adore the hell out of it. It's more of a coming of age story mixed with the messages that it's okay to have a non traditional gender role and that lesbians/exploring your sexuality are okay too.
As far as Cutey Honey, Go Nagai is just awesome all around. Wasn't CH originally a bit of a send off on magical girl stuff?

But I'd always imagined Cutie Honey being indeed a magical girl show if it was being made by vile italian directors of exploitation cinema. Most Go Nagai work feels like exploitation cinema. Man I could hardly imagine Violence Jack doing the road warrior post apocalypse style before Mad Max II: Road Warrior. And also a Dino Riders-like title, I don't know the name of it I bought it in Japan, but it looks like Dino Riders long long before Dino Riders.

Those are the words I was looking for. Magic girl stuff. Keep in mind I haven't seen most of these and judge solely on the looks of the anime, characters or trailers. I also don't like a lot of anime, classic or not. It tends to rub me the wrong way or annoys me for some reason.

Didn't CH pretty much spawn the magical girl genre?
Also, loempiavreter, Violence Jack came out in 1973, Mad Max came out in 1979. I pretty much love that exploitation stuff, there was so much variation back then, the bulk of a lot of anime feels as if it's doomed to be nothing special at all. The odd new show is good, but how many now are just tits and ass shows? Or harem shows?

I need more Nodame. But there most certainly won't be until more of the manga gets done with, since there's only been like 1-2 volumes since the anime ended. I am very sad.
One thing that's great about the second 2 series (Paris Chapter and Finale) got rid of my two main gripes -- so many still frames that go on for too long. Unfortunately the number of wacky adventures with zany side-characters is significantly cut down.

Didn't CH pretty much spawn the magical girl genre? Not really. But ones that henshin and fight evil with their powers, definitely yes.

Actually that was what I meant, Actually I should´ve said "I can´t believe", since Violence Jack nailed that setting down before Mad Max and it's countless rip offs. Wish we went back to the days the a lot of anime was basically exploitation cinema in animation form. But can't complain now Mardock Scramble for my cyberpunk fix, Redline and Tailenders for a bit of Deathrace 2000 with style and Trigun just because the original manga infected me with exotic character & weapon designs, spawning my all time favorite character design Hoppered The Gauntlet, that handicapped (small legs) villain is just genius.
