he game is awesome--fluid, exciting, full of unexpected twists and turns, but the soundtrack . . .is kinda boring. (except for stage 1-1's theme) Doesn't accomplish what the first Strider's soundtrack managed, which was to add a lot to the atmosphere of each individual stage. Osman kinda has the same problem, but there's a few tracks in that game that are memorable and very striking, so it kinda gets a pass. Nope--the PCE version has a completely remixed soundtrack plus a new track for the Egypt stage. The Strider you get with the PSOne Strider 1 and 2 set has all new arrangements for Strider 1--Strider 2 is completely new music.

Devil May Cry 3 and Prince of Persia Warrior Within.
Those seriously have some of the worst music ever. Particularly Warrior Within. Godsmack is worse than the most awful of butt metal and, given the setting and first game's music it seemed really out of place.

I will never forget Guardian Heroes' completely inappropriate blaring saxaphone solo... right in the middle of some big fights, too! Treasure games have never been known for great/memorable tunes (Radiant Silvergun is the exception), but the music in Heroes is at least a few notches below their usual mediocre stuff. Noooo! The killer sax solo's were half the reason I loved that game- and I hate the sax

Final Fight, apart the 1st stage music and the track from Bay Area.

A few comments to dispense in regards to this subject... Cybattler: MM2 is the weakest installment of the GB series (though still a competent Mega Man game regardless), and part of the reason is due to the stinging music quality. They went for original tunes for all of the Robot Masters, and I think this was quite a bad idea. They would have been better off doing as they did in 1, 3, and 4 by remixing their NES tunes for the GB. Iguana: I'll admit the Strider 2 soundtrack didn't click for me right away, but it grew on me. While not the most outstanding aspect of the game, I've come to appreciate its musical score, especially on the Balrog, my favorite stage in the game. Justin: Now that you mention it, and I'm thinking I'm going to get lynched for this... I LOVE Treasure, but I agree! Music has not been their strong suit, as awesome as their games have been, their scores haven't really had many memorable tunes. Take Gunstar Heroes for example, my favorite Genesis game EVER. It's got a good soundtrack, but I don't find myself humming any of its music very often. The Seven Force music kicks ass, but while the rest of it is fine and fitting for the game, I dunno... it just seems like everything else about the game outshines its sound. This goes for a lot of other Treasure titles; aside from a few tracks, not much stands out. It's great music, no denying, but it usually takes a backseat to the graphics and gameplay. I agree also that Radiant Silvergun is the exception. About DMC3: I've played through the game with the sound turned far down at least once. There are some good tracks in there, but its credibility is nullified by the goddamn inane main battle theme. I just had enough of hearing the lyric "Feel free to die when you've had enough" a thousand times over and just didn't want to deal with it. Who were the 'tards who decided to give lyrics (and rather bad ones to boot) in the recurring battle music? I'm sure others will find a kitsch value to it, but I just hear it as obnoxious screamo. Alrighty, now I'm going to throw my cards on this table with Double Dragon 2. The tunes themselves were actually fine. It's just that the music quality was generally low in volume. Compared to DD1 or DD3 for the NES, DD2 is somewhat mute. For a title like this, the music should be high blips of pure energy. DD2 is still my favorite BEU ever despite this. So... I've got nothing else at the moment. I tried to search for what else might fit this criteria, and I failed.

SF Third Strike. Some of the music was decent, but the halfassed repetitive rapping interspersed here and there was ten years too late.

Denjin Makai 2 for the arcade.
One of the best beat-em-ups ever made, ruined with bland soundtrack and a boss theme which i thought was the worst-sounding ever.

SF Third Strike. Some of the music was decent, but the halfassed repetitive rapping interspersed here and there was ten years too late. I really loved that shit though. Listening to 'Moving on' and looking at the SF4 story and how Capcom tries so hard to pretend that SF3 never happened... ( I mean, just look at this crap!: ) ...makes me actually wish SF4 wasn't happening instead. As for the subject at hand, while Wario Land Shake It is neither really bad or really good, I think the seriously bland soundtrack hurts it most. Only the speeding train and the Subwarine stages sound good, but the rest have gone to the point where it's a main reason to stop playing this game sometimes.

Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Treasure's music isn't... well, a treasure. Like sotenga, I can't recall much besides the Seven Force music.
I really have to add Persona 3 to this list. While the music fits the game, I personally find it grating. The whole "Ooooo yeah, buh-nuh-nuh nuh nuh, doo doo doot doo, baby baby" stuff is kinda tough to listen to. I dunno, maybe I'm just not "hip" enough to like it. Great game though. Crimony, 4's just around the corner and I still haven't started FES (despite purchasing it day one).
Also, recently I finished Megaman Zero and I'm currently plowing through number 2. I gotta say, for a Megaman series that's true to its roots (because so far these games are AWESOME) it's not quite as rockin' as I was hoping it to be. The music is just there; better than nothing. It's not terrible, though it is disappointing.

that MMZ comment is something I disagree with. Did you even listen to the opening stage song in number two? Wow. Naw, think what you like. I just... don't understand...
