It's already been noted, and I agree, that (after having skimmed the articles) there is not much one can say about these games. One paragraph about how each game works and another regarding its significance is about all it would have taken. None of the articles here are completely cut-and-dry, there's wikipedia for that. At the same time, they aren't expected to be 95 percent fluff (at least, I didn't expect them to be). The articles here go into excruciating detail; characters, variations between versions and releases, references, music samples, etc. Not everyone cares about all that, but at least its all relevant.
Articles like this usually come about when the author has nothing to say in the first place. You can add humor to anything. I tried to write an article for this site once, but had the same problem-- didn't really know what to focus on and next thing I knew I was writing bad jokes.

Reading this felt like a waste of time. The fact that 90% of the references it leans so hard on are pretty much exclusively to american pop culture and the rest being "edgy" insensitive tripe poking fun at tragic events makes it feel like a waste of time.
I played Megaman X7 and I felt less ripped-off after playing it, than after reading that review.
So, is the game good? Maybe not! Why is it bad? I dunno. What sets it apart? Cartoonish fatalaties, I guess...? Is it possible to write something funny about it? Definitely, but that didn't happen here.
I learned (and laughed) more from Something Awful's One Sentence Reviews than this, for fuck's sake.

Then why the hell did you write a detailed article on Pit Fighter? Those things about Time Killers sound far more interesting than the stuff you pointed out about that game. Does nothing to refute my point. Really, all your "points" have effectively been plugging your ears and screaming the same trite argument that somehow it's exempt from the same standards that are held for other game articles. What standards are you talking about? You haven't provided a single good point except that you yourself claim there's nothing more to say, despite other users backing up their claims to the contrary. No one has even made an attempt to back up any claims that articles need to be written like encyclopedia entries.

Overall, I think the article is more out of place than bad. The non-sequiter brand of humor would be much more at home at SMPS (which is by no means a bad site, it's just that everyone there seems to think that randomness is innately hilarious, which I don't quite get).

You know, zzz, you should just stick to writing articles. You seriously seem out of touch whenever you post on the forum.

Until by pure coincidence I stumbled upon the Daniel Pesina Wikipedia article just now, I had absolutely no idea whatsoever what that reference in the Bloodstorm review was about. I mean, really, the way the article was written, Daniel Pesina could be a vacuum cleaner salesman for all I knew, unwittingly drafted into another questionable attempt at humor. So Bloodstorm was indirectly responsible for the lack of Johnny Cage in MK3! That's pretty interesting! So why doesn't the article actually talk about it instead of throwing in some reference to oral sex?!

Wow, 6 pages of this thread. The article never bothered me, it was a pleasant read, just that it's opening was very long-winded, though it did invoke tons of stereotypical 90s imagery of awful neon signs advertising milkshakes in arcades frequented by boys in sunglasses and leather jackets with mullets.

I can't read more than a few lines of this without losing the will to live, which is a shame as I am genuinely interested in finding out more about these games as i've never heard of them before. So yeah, i'm not really a fan For the record, I did very much enjoy the final fantasy articles, they were funny. This, not so much.
