I remember playing Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (maybe it was Mistara), or watching a friend play. I can only remember two things about that game, though: "magic missile" and "owl-bear" =\ I think there was a sequel or prequel, too.

Tower of Doom is the first one, Shadow over Mystara is the second one.

What else is there aside from the two TMNTs, Simpsons and X-Men? There's at least Metamorphic Force, Asterix, Crime Fighters, Vendetta and Violent Storm. No, I didn't remember all of those right away, but I looked at the list of Konami's games at gamefaqs. There most likely are a couple more. Crime Fighters, Vendetta and Violent Storm are a series, in that order. I'm writing an article about them at my site.

Just like in Mario Bros, some very anonymous characters continuously retrieve girls from the enemy throughout the series. Crime Fighters is about some of these nameless characters rescuing girls from a gang. Vendetta (or Crime Fighters 2 in Japan) is about another totally unrelated random gang who tries to rescue one of its members' girlfriend, and Violent Storm repeats Vendetta's premise by adding another random gang and another random girlfriend to be rescued. "The princess is in another castle"-deja vu? You bet.
