Have you ever considered changing your name? Not that I have anything against the name "Ike". I don't really care for my last name, though, and sometimes entertain the idea of changing it to something that's less of an alphabet soup.

I'm pissed off that I have no talents that interest people.
I'm pissed off at being a tri-racial asexual who considers themself to be non-gendered, but my transsexual friends consider me a transsexual (I'm OK with them considering me that, but I'm annoyed at the idea that 'sex' plays much of a role).

Gigs.
I hate the stress of doing gigs but I like writing songs.
Time
I hate the fact time is slipping through my fingers and worse still- that I am wishing so much of it away too. I spend all day at the office with people I'd rather not- I spend more time with these people than my loved ones. Then I get home and feel like I have to try to cram in time to my interests- gaming or music...and sometimes work leaves me too exhausted or lethargic to actually even do the gaming one. I wish the month away til' pay day cause then I might be able to treat myself to something or get a flight to/for my girlfriend.
Achievement
I feel like I have little to show for my age- I'm approaching the big 3-0, still stuck living at home, dating someone near 10 years my junior and all I have to show for it is a lower management office job, a ridiculous name and a couple of albums. I know it could be waaay worse but I just figured I dunno, I should have seen more of the world by now or something.

But yeah, I feel the same way you do about time, and wanting to do things you're passionate about. My brother got me back into drawing again a couple of years ago after about a ten year hiatus. I have made no progress at all because of work, and generally being too tired to draw, learn Japanese, work out, or do any of the other stuff I want to do. Speaking of work, I agreed to help a coworker on a late-night job yesterday, and for my efforts was rewarded with my accidentally dropping an expensive and no longer made piece of equipment from the top of a 40' ladder. Oh, and neither of my bosses are here in the office so I'm going to have to wait even longer to figure out if I'm liable or not. WOO! |

Ah I don't mean to sound ungrateful to be honest - she constantly points out that this should be a good thing but I just feel creepy when I realise she was born in the 90's. I was playing Ninja Gaiden before she was born and that makes me wanna vomit  I'm hearing you on the missing working out thing btw- I used to be getting 2-3 nights a week and now since I was promoted I rarely get at all. It's a bit of a pain cause I really need it to fight depression - I'll never be buff but my mental health is more important than that really and office work really taxes your mental health as much as chilling with any of the old ones... Also- embrace your artistic talent! I wish I could draw. Honestly, creative output is the most rewarding thing ever in comparison to mind numbing work you loathe. Hope you don't get into too much shit with your employer over the smashy-smash! |
