I have that problem a bit too. I hold back a lot of my opinions. It's not so much that I'm scared of the reaction, I just find it really hard to muster up the effort to vocalize them and then commit to a potential debate, especially when I know the other person doesn't actually give a shit about any healthy discourse. Arguing with people is exhausting, man. I used to argue about stuff all the time but I guess I burned out. And speaking of kooky family members, I used to think that some people in my family were pretty alright, but now all these terrible things about them are coming to light and it's kinda sad. I mean, it was a gradual decline but when you hear somebody that you once respected being an awful racist it's kind of a bummer. I'm not so quick to label people racists as most, due to upbringing and all that (though looking back on it, I'd definitely say my mother's family wasn't very fond of white people at all). But my family didn't need to be racist to be generally unpleasant and miserable people anyway. Misanthropy tends to run through my paternal grandfather's side of the family, and even I'm not immune from it. There was even a family dinner once where a cousin of mine remarked "We're not very nice people..." as if he was surprised to just realize it. My father is really the culmination of all that misanthropy. He hates being around other people, and thus tends to not be able to imagine that anybody younger than him might not have had the same life experiences that he did, and therefore have been brought up to see the world differently than he was. I mean, he's aware of that concept, but his mind doesn't really process it fully, so he tends to not understand accept why people wouldn't react to a given situation in the exact same way that he would. Back when he was younger, this made him a very angry man, but 50+ years of heavy smoking have basically made him too tired to be angry all the time, so now it just comes off as wanting to shut himself out from the world even more. Sometimes I don't blame him. Sometimes I do (ie : when he has taken it out on me, when he used to take it out on my mother). Apparently my grandfather was a lot like that when he was younger too, and had to work to change his approach with my aunt and uncle. They still love to argue and rant, but they're not nearly as misanthropic as my father. In his increasing age, my father still isn't a racist, but he's starting to develop what might be prejudices (ie : not giving enough of a damn to distinguish an Egyptian Copt from an Egyptian Muslim), but it may just be his misanthropy causing him to not give a damn. I have a feeling that there are plenty of people in plenty of places who believe in the back of their head that I'm some sort of racist or bigot against some identity group or another. But I'm of the belief that anybody can be an asshole. It doesn't matter what skin color, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual identity they fall into. Unfortunately, more and more, lately, my mind wants to shift it to ' everybody is an asshole'. :/

I hate scalpers.
This is the second time in one month where some company has released an ultra-limited edition set on short notice, it sells out within a day to a bunch of scalpers, and I had no fucking clue it happened until it's too late. Amazon can go fuck themselves for not limiting orders, and for not giving me a heads up - hey fuckers, you let me know about sales on dog food and shit I don't give a fuck about; I know you're spying on me, why don't you at least let me know the LE of Persona 4 Golden's out, I've only bought about ten products with the word "Persona" in it in the last three years.

Dude tell me about it. There's a non profit label that does low print runs of weird metal and one of their releases sold out in a single day. Then when people started receiving their orders some ebay user posted like 3 of them at an insanely inflated price.

My town, sometimes. The area is naturally beautiful with the mountains and the lakes nearby. But it's also really crazy and uncomfortably religious - there's an absurd number of churches in this town. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that there's probably one every second block, and that's pretty crazy considering the size of this place. People are often holding up signs and preaching in the busy spots of town, which makes it awkward to walk around in (well, them and the junkies. it gets weird after dark). I don't have much a problem with religion in general, but it's not something that I go for, and when Pro-Lifers write to the newspaper championing the value of a soul and in the same sentence saying that Pro-Choice supporters should kill themselves, well, it's creepy and makes me kinda restless.

It's not so cold that one needs to burn strawmen to keep warm yet.

That "Free Shipping" means "We don't give a fuck if or when it gets to you", even when you weren't given any other shipping options.

People who think they have a right to block traffic and barricade people in office buildings over their grievances.

Bad sellers on online shopping sites. I ordered the three basic 3rd edition D&D books. The one I ordered seperate arrives in my usual 3-5 days after I order it, because I am incredibly lucky with online shopping. The first of the two I ordered together comes a few days later, no big deal it happens it comes in good condition and I'm happy with it. The last one arrives over two weeks after the first one did, it's missing the first 30 pages and a couple in the middle. I didn't even care about replacing them, it has everything I need for this weekend and it's cheap enough where I can just order a new one and leave them a shit review. There I don't rant often, but this happened the day I had a bad cold and missed work for the second day (I love this place so understanding ) and that happened.

I've come to realize that I have problems getting my point across in online arguments, where basically I have two choices: Either ignore the subject or go into a full asshole mode which can be summed as "Fuck you, you're stupid and here's why", which then will be retorted with "Well thats my opinion. I have every right for it blahblahblah". There are times when I can manage to keep my cool, but I usually lose it when people just whine and moan and complain and bitch about trivial stuff like remakes of over 20 year old videogames (You can probably guess what game).
And then I try to have this open mind, give things a change and not immediately jump into full conclusions about anything, only to have people say to me "You like that? Ugh....".

Still can't find anyone with even a remote chance of being willing to try to teach me how to draw...
