Too bad the politicians seem more interested in focusing on things like Megaupload and dance clubs.
Because the actual problems are hard.

I hate Biden. His RAVE Act put a chilling effect on the dance music scene, and he was behind the Megaupload book burning... I mean shutdown. I think there are literally a million problems in this country and around the world of greater importance than laws that affect dance clubs and Megaupload. Maybe I'm just getting too old to think feeble attacks on my hobbies are the end all, be all in politics. I'm a little more concerned about things like getting a job, health insurance, being able to buy a home someday and retire before I'm dead. See this is a good point. I have no problem with my hobbies, enough of them evangelical types have tried taking those down. I want to live in a world where my fiancee and I could get married tomorrow. Knowing that we're both good workers and hence not have to worry about losing our jobs. That our jobs are enough to support us both and allow us to save enough to even think about a family. That's what I'd like, just saying.

I mean Hillary Clinton. I don't know where to start. If she gains any power, those CIS PRIVILEGE ALERTS may be a reality. And I hate how the same people who gave Obama a pass on everything are those who want Bush impeached and charged with war crimes for less. I'm going to guess you're white, between the ages of 18-24 and probably crushingly irrelevant

I don't like what happened to Al-Awlaki's son any more than the next guy but you can't be seriously coming in here and trying to tell me that's on the order of the torture policies engaged in and then lied about during the Bush regime, or basically any aspect about starting the war with Iraq. With regards to torture, I always thought the "Torboto" parody was amusing: www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/tv-funhouse-torboto/93848/So yeah, politics piss me off because A) I am terrible at debates or serious discussions and inevitably fly off the handle and get unreasonable and thereby lose B) It's fucking depressing because there is no way things will ever get better in Washington, yet many people seem to think so C) I always feel the urge to voice my unpopular opinions despite knowing better than to do that, after which people get pissed off or call me out on it, making me fly off the handle D) It makes me hate everyone E) It only serves to further alienate me and make me feel paranoid about how everyone's out to get me because we don't agree.

I dunno if this should be in shit that pisses me off or shit that terrifies me to my core but I'll be starting in a new department on the 19th and I have to be boss to 6 different people. Given my laid back attitude and inability to take many things in life seriously outside of music and videogames I doubt I am really going to fit in all that well. I've been told to pull the whole "aloof boss" thing but I'm not really a very aloof person. I constantly apologise to people in person and find myself to be borderline incompetent at most things in life. I dunno- I just am terrified I am going to go to this new place, not be able to adjust to the new work as well as the other staff and end up fired, subsequently spiralling into heavy depression once again. I was quite secure where I was but this was the only way to get my promotion- not only that but I am kinda needing the extra money so I can get a place of my own once again. That and the office I was in was dangerously short-staffed and I was building up insane levels of flexi time to cope with the work. Things were bound to snap at some stage had I remained where I am currently.
I don't know - I guess I could try having a little more faith in myself but I don't think I've ever been able to have faith in myself. Ever.

Don't stress about it. Being in a managerial role can suck ass, and I've been having to deal with that for the past year. Just do your best not to let it get you depressed.

Just make sure you kick somebody's ass the first day. So they know not to mess with you.
Oh wait that's prison. But probably still applicable.

You don't have to be an asshole to be a good boss, either. You're a cool dude, don't stress too much!

Yeah, honestly just treat people with respect and usually they will return the favor. It's only if they don't that you'll have to move on to rule through fear.

Well, I was in meeting the new team yesterday and they kinda looked at me like I had two heads in a lot of cases Honestly- I've never understood how having long hair somehow makes me any less capable of doing a job. Still- the real test will be when I actually start working in their and have to check up on their progress etc. I'll try to remain cautiously optimistic prior to the starting date! Thanks for the support n' advice guys. I'll always be an intense worrier.
