The constant sense of "oh fuck I'm in the wrong lane aren't I" is largely what accounts for NJ's collective psyche. The best thing I can say about Route 35 is that there's a Wawa on it. (EDIT: Or wait, is that Route 36? I can't remember...) This made my day.

(EDIT: Or wait, is that Route 36? I can't remember...) It sounds like you're not too far away from Redbank though. I'd recommend stopping by to check out Yestercades, it's a not-too-shabby retro-type arcade. There's also Barcade farther up north in Jersey City, but that's a far bigger headache to get to. Less games, but also no kids plus a decent beer selection. I'll have to check out Yestercades; I drove through Red Bank on the way to Rumson, but coworkers and me ended up going elsewhere for dinner. Thanks for the heads up! I guess while I'm at it, any recommendations for good restaurants in north NJ? We'll probably be in Union and Newark in particular.

Union, I only really know the area around Route 22, close to the Parkway. There's nothing particularly interesting there other than chain restaurants. That whole stretch is kinda depressing. I mean, a new Qdoba just opened up, that's as exciting as it gets. If you drive down west on 22 a bit there's an OK-for-a-chain-BBQ place called Famous Daves but nothing too special. I tend to stay out of Newark unless I REALLY need to be there, you should avoid of areas that aren't the downtown or Ironbound districts if you're driving at night. The Ironbound apparently has a lot of good Portuguese/Brazilian/Spanish restaurants though. If you find yourself by the Rutgers New Brunswick campus, make sure to get some Fat Sandwiches. They're brilliant in their crappiness. Actually, depending where you are in Union, it MIGHT be worth taking a trip to the Millburn Deli, since Millburn is like a town or two over. The place is absolutely amazing, by far the best deli I've ever been to, they have a ton of ridiculous sandwiches. If you're going there, let me know, I live like 15 mins from it and work like 30 mins. They're really only open for lunch though, I think they close at like 6. www.millburndeli.com/Also, if you see a sign that says "This Way to Irvington!", DON'T GO THAT WAY.

Hm, might not be able to make it to the Millburn deli today; I'm still in Brick right now. Definitely gonna check it out though I'd totally be up for meeting up sometime though ( I know Onyx and Rasa are in the area too, and I'm pretty sure so is Xerxes). If anything I'll let you guys know next time I'm up here. Also I will try to not look like a homeless Unabomber, which is my current predicament.

PC Gamer is still sending me emails begging me to resubscribe. Hey twats, I unsubbed to your shitty magazine for many reasons, and badgering emails -- when I already tried to get off of your email lists-- is becoming one of them.

Alcoholics... I honestly cannot put into words how much I hate them. Should I ever worry that I might go 24 hours without getting pissed at something, they're always there to lend a hand. I'd best relocate before I do something I may regret... PC Gamer is still sending me emails begging me to resubscribe. Hey twats, I unsubbed to your shitty magazine for many reasons, and badgering emails -- when I already tried to get off of your email lists-- is becoming one of them. I've had this issue with a number of sites. Ended up making another email; one for spam, the other for everything else. Contact them personally through email or otherwise and tell them. Considering how big they are, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone to help with your issue. (Then again I've never dealt with PC Gamer before, so I wouldn't really know for sure...)

I need to watch out with walls at work in the future.
Years ago I got in trouble because I lost my shit, threw a pen at the ground and it exploded, splattering gel ink (which does not clean off well) on the walls. I then had to go about finding paint that matched, and painting the walls.
Yesterday I was talking to someone at work and I got angry, flew off the handle, and kicked the wall. I've done it before and nothing happened, but unfortunately I missed the studs and now there's a 6" hole in the wall. Anyway, I'm gonna be spending part of the weekend patching it up, woo hoo!

I'm surprised they make you fix it and not pay for someone else to do it. Also, what did the wall ever do to you?

At least you didn't end up like this guy: I'm surprised they don't can you for stuff like that. That's cool that they're understanding, since so many companies seem to expect people to be robots and will fire people over just about any expression of anger or frustration.

We're a small company, and yes, I'm very lucky I wasn't canned. I got a MAJOR yelling at by my boss today, though, although I can't say I'm surprised and I don't blame him for doing so. I was told that if I didn't have my track record at the company I would have been packing my stuff up. So while I'm bummed out I'm still very grateful, and somewhat flattered.
At any rate, I've spent the day patching the hole (still need to paint, the compound hadn't finished drying) and re-evaluating how I need to behave around other people. It's kind of a scary prospect and I still don't know what I think.

I feel like what few moments of clarity or brilliance I have in life all end up buried eye-deep in self-loathing and bitterness.
I piss me off.

Christmas! The pressure is too much- gotta get mum (and me so she has company) tickets to see Bruce Springsteen. She also damaged her car so I need to chip into the insurance excess...and sort other shit... I dunno- I don't think Christmas is worth the hype- it's just a big expensive garish nightmare. When I think to all the things mum sacrificed to keep me and my brothers happy as kids I feel like the pressure on even two parents is horrible nevermind single parents. Why only treat each other well for one day of the year? We should be nice all year around. Easier said than done though... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-20587538Oh and have to mention this - totally ashamed of Northern Ireland again. You should see video footage of this crap- utterly depressing that this country is still subject to the whims of sectarian morons on both sides. They pretend it is political but both paramilitary sides just stir up and orchestrate this shit so they can still make immense profit off illegal importing, drugs sales and other shit. It isn't anything to do with political expression or religious freedom whatsoever. What a bloody disgrace.
