Sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you lately. Maybe this will provide some good inspiration for new material with your band, though? Yeah, I'm pissed to hear when friends are having even a shitty day, so my prayers are with you Megatron (I hope that doesn't sound patronizing....I always hate the awkwardness of saying things like that). I think that dental is fucked up everywhere. My insurance just lost the orthodontic coverage to cut costs, ironically right after I'm told that I need braces to keep my front teeth from banging into each other. YEAH! It doesn't help that I trust dentists less than I trust roofers (who are not very trustworthy in general). In response to Kitsune, this world's getting worse and worse. I know people say that things were just as bad a hundred years ago, but we had different problems then (labor laws, disease, later on the Great Depression). It just feels like things are more sinister and hopeless. That's one of the reasons I need to get a vasectomy, I don't want my kids to have to deal with the shit that will be going down in the future. Fuck, it's hard enough to get into college much less get a job these days, can you imagine how bad things will be when your kids are your age?

Though there won't be much "civil" about it. And the rest of the world laughing as they dance and piss on our graves. But really, where I was going with my statement before, is that most peoplt that I was acquainted with had a much larger comfort zone than I did. They were always able to retreat more and more into their own hedonism and 'personal experimentation' (appearance, life choices, whatever). I on the other hand had "SINK OR SWIM! SINK OR SWIM! AND YOU'RE DROWNING!" drilled into my head. And I'm still sinking. More slowly than I had been, but still sinking, taking on metaphorical water. Everyone else is worried about their sex life, or something else relatively trivial. I sometimes think I was raised as a 40 year old.

Is this something new with your teeth, or something your parents just never took care of when you were a kid? You don't hear of many adults getting braces. In fact, I think my dental insurance only covers them for child dependents and not grown ups. Either way, crazy that your company just screwed you out of your own dental insurance. Insert Kevin Meaney with a "That's not right!"

Yeah, I'm pissed to hear when friends are having even a shitty day, so my prayers are with you Megatron (I hope that doesn't sound patronizing....I always hate the awkwardness of saying things like that). Yipes - though I still suffer from depression I am thankfully over the worst of it and managed to ween myself off the antidepressants now The family and friends supporting me and free health care really helped though- I just pity those in the UK now that have similar conditions and without as good support- because mental health is still something that the government doesn't really understand and I imagine it will be support for it that will be first to be withdrawn. Already they are starting to force the disabled to work so people without a physical disability but still suffering from mental illness are bound to bear the brunt of the benefit cuts :\ I have had a perticularly few shitty months though but I'm trying to stay on top of it- again, friends, games and family will hopefully help me get over the worst of it. I just fear for the future of others now because I know ultimately my own problems are relatively small in comparison to many other peoples :\ Thanks though guys I on the other hand had "SINK OR SWIM! Something about this post reminded me of this song- don't be offended. I definitely know the feeling :\ I'm already a horrible cynic and I'm not even 30 for few months. I dread to see just how much of a jaded ol' bastard I'll be come 40+

Suppose i should brighten up a bit.

Insert Kevin Meaney with a "That's not right!" It's something that's probably happened over the past five years or so. My teeth are actually really straight, but they're slightly too close for whatever reason. I know some adults that have or had braces after childhood, but yeah, it's few and far between. Probably because you'd look like an asshole with braces. I was thinking of these "invisalign" trays that you put on your teeth. Unfortunately, costs 3 grand. Fuck that shit, I guess I'll just live with it. As for the insurance, it's more the insurance company's deal and how they scaled back coverage. Not sure about you, but I haven't worked at a place that had a really super good dental plan and don't know of any people that do. -------- This is petty, but I recently bought a piece of shit off of Amazon Marketplace (where else?) and submitted a review. I was kind of a dick and didn't notify the seller first, but the product was just so mickey mouse I didn't think it was worth it. Anyway, the seller responded to my review and was a total fuckhead about it, and tried to pass it off like my complaints were frivolous. This is the second time this year I've run into a major dickwad seller on Marketplace - I know things are rough for sellers, but shit. Anyway, fuck them.

Hm. Dental insurance is pretty good where I work, I guess. Then again, we're all being fired on June 30th! Sorry to hear about your situation, though. Hope you don't end up in the big book of British smiles.

So, my Wife and I are looking for a new apartment but in the meantime we're packing up stuff we won't need. So we're taking out boxes we had stored in the sun room and we find that the sun room apparently has a leak and has poured all over her collection of her porcelain dolls. Some have damage to their boxes but two are ruined. One of the ruined dolls is an important heirloom to her as her and her grandmother cleaned it and fixed it up together 20 years ago. Now it's ruined and she was in tears.
On the plus side, her Birthday is coming up and I just happened to find the doll on eBay. It's not going to have the exact same emotional connection, but it's better than nothing, right?

Maybe she'll appreciate the thought, maybe she'll think it's a mockery of her loss. You never can tell. Fingers crossed for you, either way.

I can't see it going disastrously. She's getting plenty of other stuff for her birthday so if it's a dud I can quickly give her something I know she'd like. I'd only be out $30 anyway.

So she isn't up to Demi Moore levels of collecting. I think you're safe.

Hope you don't end up in the big book of British smiles. Shit, what happened? Is it set in stone? If so, I hope that you can find a good job in the meantime. (now I feel really petty about the things I'm bitching about) annoyedgrunt: I'm sorry to hear about that as well. I know there's a sentimental attachment to the doll but I'm sure she'll appreciate you going to the extent of finding the same model of doll for her. She can always keep the original damaged one for sentimental purposes.

The kind of funny thing is that the doll's head, hands and feet are porcelain but the rest is plush. The plush part is what's ruined so conceivably we would keep the doll's head on ice like it was Ted Williams.

Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast. Of course if anyone else calls you Beast, I'll rip their lungs out.
