Why do people get so attached to the romantic relationships between fictional characters? To the point where they hate any and all perceived threats to said relationships, i.e. romantic rivals? Why can't they just hate characters for real reasons, like being badly written/acted/drawing attention away from other characters? I do love a good romance, but I don't see the need to create hate shrines for characters just because they're a "threat" to it. Can't they just, y'know, ignore them?

Never had that problem myself. Personally, I find it hard to hate fictional characters period, except when they're genuinely loathsome. Is it strange that, on paper, Ronaldo Kuriki's goals in Devil Survivor are actually admirable compared to Yamato Hotsuin's, yet I find Ronaldo to be the more hateworthy character by far? >_>
...One exception would be when I feel like a deserving character got literally replaced. And I don't mean during the course of the series; I mean on the drawing board. It's happened precisely twice on my watch, and while I won't call it "hatred," I do find myself resenting Krystal for stealing the "girl on the Starfox team" role from Starfox 2's Fay and Miyu, and BFD Berri for consigning the original Berri to history's trash heap (also, ironically, for getting killed off in the very same game - paradox space has it in for her! >_<#).

Ugh, shippers. Some SA goons put it best:
"Why does everyone have to be fucking? I don't get it. It isn't just TVTropes, either. Tons of people are looking at fictional relationships and going, "Yeah, they're obviously fucking.""
"Frodo and Sam, Ben-Hur and Messala, David and Jonathan. It really cheapens things, y'know? Don't these people have friends? Can't there be any stories about friendship? Are they so broken that they can't see any use for people outside of rubbing slippery-bits?"

People want to see Kyo and Iori have filthy, nasty, disgusting Hatesex that ends in both of them having 3rd degree burns and needing skin grafts from Shingo. That's just how things work, mang.

I just got a shipment from Amazon - two of the three games I bought arrived OK, but one had been opened and the disks had been stolen. This pisses me off because now I'm paranoid that this is going to count against me in some way - I've heard of people getting blacklisted by Amazon and unable to buy shit. I've returned stuff that arrived damaged or defective in the past, but I've never had anything flat out stolen prior to it being shipped. Ugh.

The sooner you do, the less likely it will look like fraud. Write exactly what happened when you report it, and take pictures of the packaging, order codes, and anything else you can think of. If Amazon blacklists you, contact the Better Business Bureau. You have every every right to report this, so don't let yourself be ripped off.

One thing that's been kind of grating my proverbial cheese lately is people frequently using the term 'hipster' as a form of insult. I've been trying to work out what exactly is meant by it (taking into account the kind of people I've witnessed using this term), and all I'm finding is a pejorative shorthand term for:
a) Person who has bathed / taken a shower recently. b) Person who has put a bit of time and care into their appearance. c) Person the term user dislikes for no real discernable reason (maybe it's a self-confidence issue or something along those lines?).
Honestly, I've already filed this term away with other oh so cutting insults such as 'fanboy'. They may have had some degree of edge in the past, but it's been blunted over time due to being overused by some of the most insecure and inept people out there. Well, they are blessings in a way. Anybody who uses these insults might as well have a sign slapped on them saying "you can safely disregard anything this person says".
P.S. Don't flip out or anything, yes, this post is pretty acerbic, but I'm not targeting anyone here, I just thought I'd vent here seeing as that this is a thread about things that irk you. Thanks.

"Overhyped" is a term I really dislike. When you look at it as a criticism towards anything, you realize that it's not really criticizing a game, book, or movie at all. All that's being criticized are devotees of said thing, which is just plain stupid. Nevermind that the criticism is also extremely sujective, as well. I never use the phrase myself, and hate it when someone attempts to use it as a valid criticism, more so when it's their only criticism.

Thanks. That's not my understanding of someone who's a hipster at all. I always took it to mean someone who acts like they're too cool for the room and is interested in the obscure and the ironic. A hipster would wear a Stryper t-shirt because they're old and corny and then bash your taste in movies for being too mainstream. I don't think it has anything to do with cleanliness or appearance, but I could be wrong.

Got a new PC - I5 processor, Radeon 6750 card and 8 gig of Ram and guess what? Skyrim runs only at 30FPS. What the hell? :\

Have you tried turning off anti-aliasing? I always find it causes the biggest framerate drop for the least amount of visual gain.
