Is the Hyper Neo Geo 64 technology applicable for emulation yet? I was wondering if emulation had advanced far enough to support it, because I STILL want to play Buriki One, dammit.

Nope. Only Fatal Fury and Beast Busters 2 show video, the others don't even load. The last two MAME versions have had some work done on the driver, but the last update before that was in July 2008!

Buriki One was a lot of fun. I don't care much for the rest of the library on the system, but I'm very interested in seeing BO playable via emulation sometime. It's a bummer it never got a home port.

Although it was ugly as sin, I always enjoyed the SamSho HyperNeo games and would love to play them again...someday.

Flaccid goat poop. How often is MAME updated by request? I'd like to get on their asses and at least make the technology playable, no matter how choppily.

The problem is usually lack of information. If they have little info about how the hardware works, then it's going to be hard to emulate it. Although, if the hardware had a lot of worthy games or maybe a lot of hype, they might work harder on it to get it working correctly. Example: CPS3. Also, those MAME guys do it for fun. They have their own lives and work on MAME on their free time. I'm sure that if they were getting paid, we would have Hyper Neogeo 64 emulated a long time ago

Hyper walrus piss. Guess it seems like I'll never play Buriki One ever. Eh, there are a few other arcade games that I recognize I'll never play, like Teraburst, Solar Assault Gradius, and Virtua Cop 3. All I can do is bitch about it then.

Virtua Cop 3 is awesome. It breaks my heart to think that I'll never play it again unless I buy the arcade cab

Virtua Cop 3 is Chihiro, though. If they ever get Xbox emulation working, I'd imagine they could do Chihiro without much problem.
Unless you mean Beast Busters...?

It wouldn't be the same without the lightgun and foot pedal though. :/
But I've got to ask - is there an Xbox emulator? Even if it's terrible, it'll probably do a better job than my 360 does!

But I've got to ask - is there an Xbox emulator? Even if it's terrible, it'll probably do a better job than my 360 does! Xbox emulation on the 360 is quite amazing, all things considered. Everything is done through software, unlike the hardware/software hybrid solutions that Sony had used for PS1 emulation in earlier PS2 models and PS2 emulation on the PS3s. It's impressive that they made it work as well as it did for as many games as are compatible. You could always look at Cxbx, but I wouldn't get your hopes too high.

If it makes you feel any better, Solar Assault is awful.

Umm Solar Assault has been emulated in MAME for more than a year now!

But it doesn't work right, does it? I remember trying to get it to run last year when I was doing the Gradius article, but while it boots, and I think actually runs the demo, you couldn't actually control it.
