I'm not sure if this has been posted before. freeware.remakes.org, "the review archives for Retro Remakes", houses links to 2138 free games and demos (though by now a few are not available). The ones with a star are clasified in the " Picks" section and are the most recommended by the reviewers, but you will also find great games in the other sections. It's called the 'review archives' but it's more of a small synopsis than a proper review.

... guess that's the difference. I can't play games if they are unfun. do you also only read books or watch movies that are "fun"?... I suppose that this can be extrapolated as "do you also only read books or watch movies that don't bore you?" then the answer is yes. If a movie bores me, I'd likely not enjoy it or I will avoid watching it (same with books), but even if we take away the fact that they are entirely different mediums, for all the messages about male power fantasies, the game you linked isn't objectively even a good game (which can be said for, say, the English Patient, an excellent movie that bores the hell out of me). It even stretches the definition of "video game" and sometimes, such as this particular effort, it isn't always a good thing.

steamcommunity.com/app/346250The Old Tree, short point and click adventure game (sorta), which, like the game we were arguing about, it's a pretty artsy, simple game (there are two or three puzzles here, that said), but instead of trying very hard to deconstruct a 32 year old game with a figurative bludgeoning instrument, it's an adorable tale about a "microscopic alien". I thought it was a "walking apple". Recommended for a twenty minutes ride.

Games, movies, etc. are classified as entertainment first and art as a close second. "Entertain" is in the title. If something bores you, but you can tell they put effort or a lot of craft into it, you don't need to force yourself to like it. Just keep in mind that everyone has different interests and tolerances of this sort of stuff and you'll be fine.

Average Maria Individual didn't bore me, but it's saving grace was that it was so short. If the creator had tried to make an eight level game this way then I probably wouldn't have gotten past the first couple of levels once the novelty wore off.

SINCE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BORING ARTSY GAMES Cart Life- Quote from dev site "Cart Life is a retail simulation for windows which showcases the lives of street vendors in a small city which is located in the western united states. Each of the playable characters has specific oald and special traits, but also unique addictions which the played must accomodate in order to succeed within the game. Permits are required, but expensive. Is it worth risking a fine to operate without one? The played also needs to accomodate their customers by paying attention to different tastes, buying habits, and levels of patience. Most customers will tip well when their order is filled quickly and accurately, so do your best!" Basically think a more customizable and more "sandboxy" Papers please. Surprisingly each char. has his own story to tell and the gameplay while firstly quite bland is very complicated and hardcore as hell the more you progress. If you play the game, start as Andrus, the other characters are atrociously hard for newbies. I also have to point out that the game still has some features that are yet to be added (no idea if they will ever be added tbh) and some bugs that need fixing. It feels like a complete game though, used to be on steam for 5 dollars and later had an open-source release. Website: www.richardhofmeier.com/cartlife/Starsector- Quote from dev site "Starsector (formerly “Starfarer”) is an in-development open-world single-player space-combat, roleplaying, exploration and economic game. You take the role of a space captain seeking fortune and glory however you choose." Again, it is like FTL with more freeroam, straight action and customization. Website: fractalsoftworks.com/

Teleportower Plus is one of the few great indie games I remember playing over the years. I strongly recommend it to however likes their platformers with a dash of Portal.

I'm pretty new to the site, so hello! haha
Anyways, I enjoy the EA game at steam called the memory of eldurim. Its been fun seeing its progress with its bi-weekly updates. I doubt very many know of this game but Ive enjoyed it.
I think right now its 19.99. So we'll see how it goes after they get back from GDC.

I'm looking forward to quite a few indie RPGs that are supposed to be released this year:
Darkest Dungeon, Icy: Journey on the White Wasteland, Starcrawlers, Serpent in the Staglands, Dragon Fin Soup, Celestian Tales: Old North, Prisonscape, Telepath Tactics, Underrail, Age of Grit, Hard West, Age of Decadence, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong (I guess some would argue this isn't indie do to them raising $1.2 million on Kickstarter, but it's being developed by a pretty small team on w/o a publisher, so I think it technically qualifies).

Welp I haven't heard of any of those save Darkest Dungeon. Where do you get your indie gaming news?

Welp I haven't heard of any of those save Darkest Dungeon. Where do you get your indie gaming news? I check the newsbits at RPGWatch almost every day. Also Indierpgs.com tends to cover most of the really obscure indie RPGs Most of the above games I've backed on Kickstarter (or Indiegogo in the case of "Icy").

If you like action-adventure games, you can try free browser game Phoenotopia. Made by a Vietnamese guy, it's a platform with nice pixel art between 8 and 16-bit games, pleasant music, good if simple story and a few puzzles that require the use of the secondary weapons you find. It's pretty nice and fairly long for a browser game, the only issues I had is that there is always a delay between pressing the button and actually attacking because of the animation of the protagonist swinging the club/hammer/whatever. I guess it's intentional but especially at the start it can be annoying.

Been looking around amazon to see what I can play on my kindle. Garou Mark Of The Wolves is there but most people say it doesn't work unless you fool around with settings but even then it doesn't work for some people. Same with some King Of Fighters games.
I think Garou is a legitimate release but who knows? There's so many unlicensed Street Fighter, Marvel and DC stuff that I don't know how Amazon allows them on. There's a game that previews screens of Street Fighter X Tekken but can't possibly be that.
Going to give Art Of Fighting and X Man Fighting (2d action scroller) a try.
I'd like any suggestions for anything fighty, actiony or platformers on kindle.
