Hmmm all of the sudden there's an outbreak of "worst endings" topics and articles.... On gamefaqs, on 1up.com and now here. The worst ending ever: www.vgmuseum.com/end/nes/a/1942.htm

Worst ending has to be the one for Ghosts n' Goblins. Arthur feels "strongth" flowing through his body and he decides to challenge the game all over again. I would have been pissed if I had actually played it in the arcade.

Jurassic Park for the SNES. After finishing this incredibly hard game (which you had to do in one sitting, for there were was no way to save the game) we were treated to the a view of the island rotating and a bland "congratulations" screen. Totally unsatisfying.

Totally unsatisfying. Cannot agree with you more on that one- I slogged through that game for ages myself- the first time I tried to finish it I missed one damn egg. After finally finding out where it was and putting myself through the game again to get that excuse of an ending...pain... Always thought the ending to Fist of the North Star on the NES was spectacular in its awfulness. Also- the ending to Super Ghouls n' Ghosts- in no way rewarding for an honest playthrough...

Chakan has a text ending but all you get for defeating the final boss is just an image of an hourglass with dropping sand with no words or anything and that had to be hard reset out of.

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge In the end you find out that the whole fucking game was something like a dream! Totally ruined the game GAH!!! Not just in games, but in just about ANYTHING, I really dislike when that happens. Revenge of Shinobi's ending(s) are WAY too short. No credits whatsoever. I wouldn't mind, but they cut off the awesome ending theme(s) while playing!

"Chakan has a text ending but all you get for defeating the final boss is just an image of an hourglass with dropping sand with no words or anything and that had to be hard reset out of. " No you see, Chakan has a prety peculiar way of presenting the ending... you get the ending BEFORE fighting the last boss. How's that for being different?

Didn't Monkey Island 3 kinda explain what the hell happened at the end of the second game?
I never beat 3. I should. That monkey song rules.

Hell, I should beat MI1! >_< Pac-Man's ending sucks. I beat 255 stages, and all I got was a glitched screen?!

Didn't Monkey Island 3 kinda explain what the hell happened at the end of the second game? Yes it did, at the risk of giving everybody a spoiler: LeChuck basically made both of them kids, he did it to himself to heal and he did it to Guybrush so he wouldn't be a threat anymore. When they arrived at the Carnival of the Damned, some couple (probably hired by LeChuck) then treats them like kids to further the illusion. After eating a horrible snowcone with pepper, merange pie and some fake hair Guybrush escaped in a dase, that's where MI3 picks up.Warning: The above text contains spoilers. It is now safe to turn off your computer.

Thinking about it, System Shock 2 had a pretty lame ending. The boss battle pretty much sucked and then the ending is "Hah, turns out Shodan isn't dead, AHAHAHHA..."...weak.

On the topic of FPS... the ending to Half-Life 2 pissed me off to no end... coulda at least given some crumbs as to the identity of the G-Man or at least any of his motivations... if HL3 doesn't do this, I'm swearing off the series for good...
Great game though.
