If they include the circus stages from Portrait of Ruin, I'm going to bust a vein.

It's hard for me to be outraged over this when I had no plans on spending money on this POS anyway. It's what this bodes for the future of Castlevania that is so truly infuriating. I'm just wondering if there's a law somewhere that they have to reuse old sprites, etc. from the previous games. Because they've been doing it since 1997. I tried the demo for about 5 minutes then deleted it. It's not terrible, but it is terribly lazy and cheap looking. The game began zoomed out so far that I could barely see Alucard (who was ant-sized). I zoomed in and saw why; if they're going to make it HD, why the hell would they clean up the resolution on the backgrounds but not redraw the sprites? It's horrible. That, and there's a huge resolution jump from sprite to sprite. I just didn't hit me how big of a cheap cash-in this was until I played it. Exactly how are professional reviewers looking at this and giving it 7s and 8s? Ugh...

it can't be that hard to just make an HD traditional Castlevania can it?

Why bother when you can slap together a frankenstein and receive praise from professional critics?

Except that the point is kind of moot one way or another. Either this isn't the future of Castlevania, in which case we'll all just get over it and forget about it... or it is the future of Castlevania, in which case just don't buy any more Castlevanias, problem solved.

X (where, given what it was supposed to be, might have been quite justified) were the first games to use a large amount of recycled content. However, seeing the same layout for the clock tower in both levels was actually kinda cool, IMO.

The problem isn't solved. Watching a favorite series wither like this is some bullshit and letting those sentiments out is important.

The latter would outrage me because Castlevania is one of my favorite series. So if this means not looking forward to games I know I'll enjoy anymore, it's a big hit to my enjoyment of video games as a whole. It's also why I'm hoping that Lords of Shadow is not only a good game, but a critical and commercial success. If the 2D future of the series is tripe like Harmony of Despair, I have to put all my chips on the table for LoS. :/

The fact that anybody is defending this garbage is mindnumbing.

It's sort of funny how when zoomed out, the level graphics look really sterile and dull. Saw a couple gameplay videos and that was one of the things that stood out most for me.
