Still though, in DR2's case Zero was about the main character and West was about the first game's character. Why should we care about this Barret dude? I'm guessing it's not so much as Raiden but more like they're pulling a Roxas. I doubt anyone at Capcom right now has the balls to sideline Volnutt as a playable character in his own game.
On another note: Hey it's the old Capcom logo jingle from the early PS1 days. I miss that.

What bothers me is the "Take your ideas to the dev room to get a chance to see them in game!"
Which to me translates as "Holy fuck we have no fucking clue what to do in this one please give us ideas please please pretty please with a cherry on top?"

This doesn't bother me that much. I thought Case Zero was great, so if this is comparable I'll be satisfied. I do hope the final game lets you play as MegaMan more though. I wouldn't want him sidelined by some new characters in his return after more than a decade of waiting.

Yeah, I can actually understand this. If we play as Mega Man, then all he'll have to explore is the final dungeon of the last game. You can actually see Roll's rocket in some of the screenshots, so the rescue hasn't taken place yet.
Something tells me this guy won't be playable past the prototype.

Now that Inafune is gone they probably don't know what they're doing so they need all these ideas from the fans. That's not good. I don't trust the fans, especially if they're the "omg originil charcter DO NOT STEAL" type.
Stiiiiiiiiiiil this vyse/protoman character doesn't look too bad. This series does have a lot of side characters, so nothing wrong so far.
In fact I just thought of something. This guy is reminiscent of protoman probably because he'll be the guy you use in the 'prototype' version. Whatever moves or techniques this guy has that they like will probably be added to Volnutt in the main game. Unless they keep this guy in the main game as a side character.

I gotta say, it looks pretty cool. I love the different additions to mobility. My main complaint is that they're already fucking making pre game DLC; why isn't it just part of the main game?
Otherwise, looks great. Makes me want to play the originals. Just give us the original voice actors (read: Tiesel's) and all will be well, I think.
Also I love how some people assume that Inafune somehow encapsulates all possible remaining talent and rationality at Capcom. While I agree Capcom's been going down the tubes as of late, Inafune is the guy who WANTED Edward-Dante, people; he's not a god. He's not the only person who ever made all the programming of any Mega Man games; they've got a lot of veterans working on this one too. Give them a chance.

Did I say he was? You assume that since I don't hate Inafune that I love him. You're the one assuming and you're assuming wrong. Internet logic is a tragic waste of everyone's time. He was however one of the main guys behind mega man. And now it seems coincidentally (?) that with him gone they're fishing for ideas for this latest one. <---this is where that statement is coming from. Take of that what you will. It could very well be a coincidence as they are trying something new, letting the fans play more of a role in a game that the fans wanted.

I don't hate Inafune either. Since his job must have been pretty stressful (and since he's done a lot of good at Capcom) I'm going to chalk his suggestions for "Dante's" look up to temporary insanity. But it seems like people assume that since some of the touted names at Capcom have left, those few guys are the only ones that ever had talent.
The post wasn't aimed at you specifically but more at the general "Inafune is gone, therefore this game is ruined" vibe I get from some of these discussions. I do get a bit suspicious about the idea of letting fans do some of the deciding, but from some of the final submissions they clearly haven't lost their quality control aspects (regardless, I guess, of one's opinions on the final choice of sidekick design). More than anything, I imagine it's not chiefly because they "need help" but that they need to build some kind of rapport with fans to bring newcomers to the series and help the game sell more.

Hi,
Is there something to Mega Man Legends i'm not getting? Most people here tend to be rather enthusiastic about the series, so I started playing the first game a while ago. To be honest I'd much rather play the Zero or ZX games.

I know how you feel. The gameplay and control scheme in the original hasn't aged well at all. The appeal of the game lies in the charm of the world, characters, music, etc. I haven't played the second MML, but the 3DS one has the potential to polish the controls/game and bring back the charm too.

Really? I thought the gameplay has aged really well, too, and I'm being entirely sincere, here.
Anyway, I bought a 3DS (and no games, because literally none of them even remotely appeal to me... neither do any in the next few months line-up). I wish the fucking online store would open up, now, I wanna buy some VC games and get to the meat of why I bought this fucking thing, the MML3 demo.

You know, I remember those kinds of complaints being thrown around back when it was first released, and I didn't really get them then, either. The controls always felt about right to me, and the art direction kept the graphics from aging too badly. Hell, I'm still amazed at the work on the facial textures during cinematics. They used perspective-correct mouth textures. I'm playing Dark Cloud 2 right now, and even though they had a more powerful system, they did not put that much effort into the facial expressions.

I have zero complaints with regards to the controls in Mega Man Legends. I have zero complaints regarding how the series has aged. In point of fact, the gameplay and texture work in that game is so phenomenally well-done that the game has barely aged at all.

The controls in the Legends games are a little awkward, but for the most part I find them workable. The second game improves things a great deal, yet it still has some failings of its own, such as having your lock-on switch targets every single time an enemy attack hits you.
