One of the games I'm looking forward for Nintendo DS is Solatorobo. From those who don't know, Solatorobo is an action/rpg game with anthropomorphic animal characters and it's the long-awaited spiritual sequel of Tail Concerto for Playstation (which despite its poor sales it has its own, strong fanbase), both created by CyberConnect2 (which is rensonsible for //hack series and Naruto Ultimate Ninja series). While it has been already released in Japan on 28 October 2010 there is not an official announcement for a relase outside Japan. However, it's 99% certain that it will be released in Europe since there was a french-language playable demo on the game at Paris' Japan Expo of this year. www.aussie-nintendo.com/news/22861/Another fact that tells us about huge possibilities for an european release is that it has been rated at PEGI official site: www.pegi.info/en/index/global_id/505/?searchString=solarobo&agecategories=&genre=&organisations=&platforms=NDS&countries=&submit=SearchFor the time being have a sample with this trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3GSaevxH7gWhile Solarobo has good receptions even outside Japan I hate the fact that lots of people criticize it as a game for furry-fetists and whenever there is a video or thread about Solatorobo you will be lots of flame wars from furry-haters. Well, I have to admit that I'm an anthro-lover (I prefer the term anthro instead of furry which as a term is less-accurated and more geek-sounded) but still I wouldn't care less if it wasn't for the beautiful and inspirited universe of this game (no wonder since it's from the creators of //hack series) as well as the wonderful appealing. So...any other Solatorobo fans here? More info about this game: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SolatoroboOfficial site: www.solarobo.channel.or.jp/index.htmlPS: Believe it or not, although I really want to play Tail Concerto when I gave it a try and heart its incredibly annoying dub and saw how tricky the control and camera I didn't gave it any more try. I heard that this game was released in Europe as well. Was it released in english or only in french/spanish/or other language? Does it have the original japanese voice acting?

Hey, I really liked Tail Concerto's dub ! A few voices had slightly annoying pitch, but I thought each actor fit their character well and did a good job. I feel the same way about Mega Man Legends - the VA's are a little bit camp, but I wouldn't have them game any other way. Gives it this really sentimental feel that makes it easier to identify with, to me. I am really hoping that Solatorobo gets released in the US, otherwise it's going to be a little expensive to import it. I loved Tail Concerto dearly, so I've got some high expectations that I'm pretty sure won't be met

Yeah, that drives me nuts. Having anthropomorphic animals in a game doesn't mean it's catering to furry fetishists. Anybody who sees the animal people and immediately dismisses it by saying "lol furries" is either a troll or an imbecile, and their opinion can be safely discarded. Anyway, if it gets a European release, I will definitely be importing it.

Man, I've got to say, as a furry having been part of the furry fandom for the better part of a decade, I've never bought into "furry appeal" on my game purchases. Tail Concerto is the only game I can think of with very anthropomorphic animal designs that I've really enjoyed, and it's because it's genuinely well-designed with an utterly charming world, not because I saw the characters and then felt compelled to purchase it (I've actually got a long history with the game, having tried the import demo on my PS1 yeaaaars back).
I wish I could say the same for the rest of the fandom, though. Startlingly large percentages of furs do buy stuff like Sonic, Sly Cooper, Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox, etc., just because of their obsessions with the characters.

Even if there are a lot of people in the furry fanbase who see the characters and think to themselves "hot damn," it still doesn't matter. Anthropomorphic characters add a sense of the fantastic and a dash of whimsy to a fantasy world, and even if there are people who have a fetish for it, who cares? You don't have to apply for a furry membership card just because you watched Disney's Robin Hood.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that people should enjoy things for what they are and stop worrying about what floats someone else's boat.

Yeah, I've been waiting for this ever since the teaser art showed up on CyberConnect2's website. I absolutely loved Tail Concerto, so news of a sequel was the most awesome thing ever.
And seriously, this one looks amazing. It has pretty much everything I could want in a game: anthropomorphic animals, an airborne, steampunk setting, giant robots that transform into aircraft, bounty hunters, gunblades, customizations...the only thing it's missing is a longcoat on the main character, and with everything else, complaining about that would be just plain silly. And for one of the girls to wear sandals. What? I think they'd look adorable. Animal paws are cute.
Also, I'll admit that anything with animal characters is at least enough to get my attention, but you know what? So is anything with giant robots, powered armor or spacecraft. They're just something exceedingly rare that I find aesthetically appealing.

Not to plug my site, but I've been working on the 4koma strips. And by "working on", I mean "doing one or two every few months". ^_^; I've got a loooong ways to go, but I hope you enjoy the ones I've done: watercrown.info/

I haven't tried Tail Concerto yet, but it looked like a game I'd like. This looks cool too.

So has there been any solid word on a European (or even a US) release for this? Haven't found any hard evidence - just rumors so far.

As about the "furry flamewar" I encountered on certain forum when I made comments like "Uuuuum...Sonic and Star Fox are furries, too. Have you avoided them because they're furries?" what was some replies? "Sonic is not furry. Rouge is furry". "And why is Rouge furry and not Sonic?" I asked. "Because she has sex appeal. Furries have always sex appeal." they answer. From this point and after there wasn't any point to continue the conversation. I know there are lots of misunderstanding about the furry meaning but this? Geez! Anyway, enough whining from me. Anthropomorphic characters add a sense of the fantastic and a dash of whimsy to a fantasy world... That's a good point that I never though about. Not to plug my site, but I've been working on the 4koma strips. And by "working on", I mean "doing one or two every few months". ^_^; I've got a loooong ways to go, but I hope you enjoy the ones I've done: watercrown.info/Thanks for the translations! I have checked before your first translation on Solatorobo 4panels which was posted on a certain image board. So has there been any solid word on a European (or even a US) release for this? Haven't found any hard evidence - just rumors so far. Isn't the playable demo and the PEGI entry I mentioned on my opening post a hard evidence? ;D Anyway, no official announcement till now but you know how it works with some games: they make the release announcement the last minutes. Just like with Dragon Quest VI american release for DS...two months before the offical release! Before that SquareEnix was all about shits like "Duuuuuuuuuh...we don't know if we release it or not." untill Nintendo of America made the move (just like with Dragon Quest IX where NOA made a great work with its marketing). *Sign*

I realized I may have been a little unclear in what I said - I definitely didn't meant to imply that Cyberconnect was trying to market directly to furries, and I think people who believe that notion are absurd... I was just giving some "furry input" lol.

I was just giving some "furry input" lol. Yeah, I got what you were saying. I wasn't really replying to you directly so much as I was replying to the concept of people who like things solely for the "furry factor" that you mentioned, and how that creates a negative backlash towards the game from so many people. To use an analogy, say Solatorobo is a delicious chocolate cake with candy sprinkles. Many people love it for the chocolate. Then there are some furries who come along and also enjoy it. Some of them also like it for the chocolate, but maybe there are also some who enjoy the sprinkles on top the most. Then the first group gets up, points their collective finger at the furries, and yells, "You like SPRINKLES!? That does it! I am never eating this cake again!" Then they storm out angrily to find something else to get indignant about. Does that make sense? I'm not sure if that was at all coherent.

Startlingly large percentages of furs do buy stuff like Sonic, Sly Cooper, Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox, etc., just because of their obsessions with the characters. At least games like Star Fox are awesome. I have seen some people from the furry fandom who were playing some crappy mmorpg just because they took place on furry universe. And very unispirited on top of that with lame graphics and boring gameplay.

Does that make sense? I'm not sure if that was at all coherent. Not only does that make sense, but it perfectly illustrates how nonsensical the situation is.

Not to plug my site, but I've been working on the 4koma strips. And by "working on", I mean "doing one or two every few months". ^_^; I've got a loooong ways to go, but I hope you enjoy the ones I've done: watercrown.info/Hey, I never knew you're Yusuke Urameshi on GameFAQs, Ryusui. I'm Aussie2B on the Tail Concerto/Solatorobo boards. Anyway, like I said in another topic on here, I adore Solatorobo. I forked over $100 to import the collector's edition, and it was worth every penny. I finally beat the game a few days ago (the second story, that is; Solatorobo is kind of like two games in one). As high as my expectations were from all the years of waiting and my immense love for Tail Concerto, it didn't disappoint at all. It is different in some ways from Tail Concerto, more adventure-y and less platformer-y, but I don't think it's different in ways that makes it better or worse, necessarily. At this point in time, I can't really pick a clear favorite, I just love both so much. Tail Concerto is definitely the more replayable game, but that's only because it's so short. And I don't even give a damn about anthro characters one way or the other. I too am very annoyed about the "lol furries" stigma and also with the furry fanatics that wouldn't care less about these games if not for the cat and dog people. It's kind of frustrating being a fan of these games when you're "only" interested because they're awesome games. You end up taking crap from both sides. I imagine a lot of people probably assume I got some furry obsession just because I like them, which is annoying, and I also get annoyed that so many people are missing out on games they'd probably love if they'd only give them a chance. I mean, pretty much anyone that likes Mega Man Legends will probably like them. Bottom line is that CyberConnect2 is an amazing developer, and while all of their efforts have been good, it's obvious that they really intended this to be their magnum opus. You're not going to see better graphics on DS, the music is lovely (just use headphones), Nobuteru Yuuki is an awesome artist (regardless of if he's drawing humans, cyborgs, anthros, or you name it), the world is so finely crafted and fleshed out, and the gameplay is as tight and satisfying as can be. I wouldn't hold your breath for a US release, but I highly recommend importing from Japan or elsewhere. Even in Japanese, the game is very easy to play through. I never once got stuck.
