Edit: I guess you made the same post on Gamefaqs Sketcz? Yes, embarrassingly I chose that username when I was young and didn't realise the negative connotations associated with it. Negative connotations? Do tell.

Negative connotations? Do tell. In high school, before I studied Japanese, I read in a games mag that "otaku" meant "someone who likes games - a fan". In later years I discovered it was more associated with anime (which I don't really watch), and then later still that actually it was an insult among Japanese people - meaning someone obsessed with something at the expense of everything else. Technically I earn a living through games writing, but I no longer like using the word. Bah!

Oh, I thought you meant negative connotations to the name Sketcz, of which I know none.

Sketcz: "Otaku" does have a negative connotation in Japanese, but no more so than "nerd" or "geek" does here. It's something that nerds/geeks/otaku often call themselves, using the word with pride, much as we nerds wear our nerdery on our sleeves and take pride in it. So I wouldn't worry toooo much about using that word in your username. (:

Oh, I thought you meant negative connotations to the name Sketcz, of which I know none. Oh, there's PLENTY of negative connotations associated with Sketcz! Weren't you here for Walken-gate, where I managed to hoodwink the entire internet for a short time? Or the blog-readers hatred for my totally nonchalant lack of ethics? Of course any such connotations regarding me being an unbearable meanie are all totally worth boasting about. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I just picked this up the other day. I didn't realize how stupidly uncommon it is. I guess every GameStop that didn't have preorders only got one copy.
It's adorable so far. The furry characters were a bit offputting at first but they're done in a nice, expressive style that makes me think of Miyazaki-type stuff.

I bought it at launch - guess I should count my lucky stars I got it without preordering it.

I'd bought a copy at release, but it was on sale on Amazon with the Soundtrack...I ended up buying three copies to give as presents. The game is all sorts of charming. I've been focusing on the sidequests but the characters are very likeable so far. My only complaint is that the Air Robo GP has little room for error...thankfully the mandatory missions I've played where it's a focus make it possible to lose and move on, unlike GTA. BTW, one thing I like about XSeed's pack-ins is that they'll actually bother to do nice packaging for the soundtracks instead of a paper envelope.

I like the American box art the best. Especially the embossed slipcover. (Do we have you to thank for that, wyrdwad?)

Actually, I'm going to come right out and admit that I basically did NOTHING for Solatorobo. I was working on Corpse Party and Fishing Resort while others were doing Solatorobo stuff. (: I'll pass along your compliments, though. (And consequently, I completely agree, the Solatorobo package is fantastic!) -Tom
